Chapter 7

Time: November 16, 2017

Friday.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you the CEO of Genesis Labs... Judas Silver!"

The crowds cheered as Judas Silver walked up to the front of the stage. He was wearing his expensive blue suit, had slicked back his brown hair, and had a large smile on his face. As he made his way to the center stage, fireworks shot into the air, showering the sky with dazzling colors. Aaron and Cade clapped with the rest of the people, and gazed in awe at the fireworks display above.

"He's on the stage." the boy in the jumpsuit spoke into his radio, "Does everyone have eyes on him?"

"I do." one of the girls responded.

"Same here." a guy replied.

"I'm en route to a vantage point." another one replied.

"Get there soon. We'll be starting up our own show soon." the boy smirked, then turned off his radio to watch.

Judas Silver waved and walked up to the podium. The crowd grew silent.

"Fellow citizens of Utopia," he began, "What a pleasure it is to be with you today. Thank you for coming to the Genesis Labs Expo 2017. Now tell me; what do you think of it so far?"

The cheering and chanting rose up again, swelling through the crowds. Judas smiled and continued, "I'm glad you're enjoying the expo. Our scientists and I have been hard at work to give you a better future. A future of technological prosperity. A future where cancer is gone, pollution is gone, and peace is the key. Peace is what I'll be talking about today."

The boy in the jumpsuit loaded his gun, watching his creator speak.

"In our world today, there are always threats. Violence, death, and terrorism are often caused by these threats. All over the world, this is going on. You watch it on the news, read it on your smartphones."

The crowds nodded in agreement.

Judas continued, "But that death and destruction does not work in our vision of peace. Just think about it: soldiers are dying every day to protect that peace. But they can't be as equally equipped as the enemy. They need to be stronger, to have the advantage. We need a game changer to ensure that our county and the world is safe from all threats of all kinds. And I believe that I have that very game-changer today."

Four generals walked up to the stage, standing next to Mr. Silver.

Silver explained, "These are four of the highest-ranking generals in the United States Army. These men have risked their lives and those of their men to provide us the ability to be here breathing today. Why don't we give them a round of applause?"

As the crowds clapped, the generals proudly saluted.

"They've got eyes all over the place." Erik said aloud.

Erik was observing the expo behind one of the buildings near the plaza. His eyes darted between the guards at unnatural speed.

"There are enough guards here for a SWAT team. This place is locked down tight." he said into his headset.

"If the Resistance is there, they'll have made sure to be camouflaged. You need to get in there."

"I'm on it. I'll keep you posted. If this goes bad, I'll contact you." Erik turned off the headset before it got snatched out his hands.

"Who are you talking to?" Jasper demanded to know, holding the headset away from his irritated companion.

Before he could finish the question, the headset was back in Erik's hand.
