30 Days of Domestic Fluff Challenge

DAY 2

Story: Realms
Pairing: Victor Castillo/Ismeralda Delos Reyes-Castillo

~

Ismeralda always wakes up at the crack of dawn, a habit she acquired from her father who needed to be at sea in the earliest hours of the morning. She leaves her bed, moving ever so slowly so she won't wake up her husband who is still fast asleep.

Wrapping a shawl around her shoulders, she tiptoes out the house and tends to the chickens. She gives them their grains and water then gathers the eggs they lay. She then goes to her little garden of herbs and vegetables at the back of their house, pull out some weeds, water the plants and harvest any produce.

After that she goes in the house and starts to make breakfast. She cooks the eggs from her chickens and the vegetables from her garden.

By the time Victor wakes up, the table is set and warm food is already on the table. They sit down and eat, occasionally talking about their plans for the day even though it's pretty much the same from the day before. It was just nice to have someone to talk to even if it's idle conversation.

Aside from them living in the same house and laying together at night, nothing really changed between the two of them. Ismeralda thought that marrying Victor would somehow wane her passionate feelings for him but their vows only intensified it.

They grew up together. Him always trailing behind her when they were still children asking if she wanted to play ball or climb a tree or read the latest comic book his older brother brought from the other barrio. She enjoyed those moments with him and considered him as a real friend.

But then he started to change right in front of her eyes. One moment she looking down at him and the next moment he was towering over her. His voice deepened, his chest became broader and his scrawny arms gained muscles. He became a man. And it became harder and harder for her to look him in the eyes without her heart racing.

Now at only seventeen, they were married.

After breakfast, she takes a bath while he cleans the table, does the dishes and packs up his lunch. When that is done, it's his turn to use the bathroom as she readies the clothes he's going to wear for the day. She lays his shirt and pants on the bed then packs two shirts and a some towels in the sling bag that he carries to work. Building houses was not an easy job and she wants to make sure he has some clean clothes to change into if he wants.

He gets dressed and she brushes her long hair while facing the mirror on her dresser as she hums an unnamed tune. He hums with her and sometimes even pulling her in for dance. She resists at first but one thing she learned after all years of spending time with him is that she can never resist her Vico. They laugh and twirl inside their bedroom and he whispers to her how he's the luckiest man alive because he has her for his wife. She nods knowing he wasn't just saying that. She knows it was true because she also feels the same. She feels so lucky to be married to her best friend.

Ismeralda walks him to the door, hands over his things and gives him a quick kiss goodbye. Sometimes, if they have time to spare the kisses were longer.

"See you later, mahal." He'd always say as he steps out the door and Ismeralda watches him as he walks off.

Every morning was like this...

And she wouldn't have it any other way.
