"The only real things in life is the unexpected things.
Everything else is just an illusion."The shop was closing soon, and the steady stream of customers had come to a near halt; it was evening, Catherine’s favourite time of day. She loved to be alone in the shop, tending to the flowers, getting lost in her thoughts. She had already forgotten about the morning; the behaviour of her father and those menacing strangers was the last thing on her mind. She already forgotten that her father had left a small white box behind, before he left earlier in the afternoon, telling her to give the man who will come for it this evening. He said she will know who it is meant for.
Catherine was watering the flowers, the last of her chores before she closed up the shop, when the bell above the door alerted her to a new customer.
Looking over her shoulder, Catherine saw a rather unusual customer enter. He was dressed similarly to the men earlier, jolting her memory to her father's instructions, and Catherine knew why was he here. Slipping back behind the counter, she went to retrieve the small, mysterious, white box.
“Now I was told to pick up a pretty lil somethin’ but I didn’t think the boss meant you.”
Catherine startled, not expecting the smooth, accented words from the young man before her. The man stepped closer, leaning on the counter, with a smirk on his face. Catherine slightly frozed from the close proximity. She knew she was acting awkward, but couldn’t help, she wasn’t used to men flirting with her.
“Now, as much I appreciate your staring,” he said, causing a deep blush to spread on Catherine’s cheeks. “but I have work to do here”
“Oh.. sorry” she stuttered as she casted down her eyes, her blush getting even bigger if it was possible. Catherine quickly grabbed the box and shoved it in front of him. The young man picked it up and was about to leave when he turned back to the woman behind the counter.
“What is your name beautiful?” he asked with his usual grin plastered on his face. This sudden and unexpected question surprised the girl and she looked up to the man.
“Catherine” came the answer, more confident than earlier. “Catherine Hastings “ she even cracked a small smile.
“Isaiah, Isaiah Jesus” he motioned for himself “Cathy, it was a pleasure to meet you” Isaiah grabbed her hand and placed a gentle kiss on her knuckles, with a one last smirk, he turned around and left the shop. Leaving behind a dumbfounded Catherine.
