Catherine was excited the whole day before the date. The previous day she told her mother everything about this boy, who asked her on a date, and seeing her daughter's  joy, Marie was happy to help her get ready. However both of them know they can't mention it to her father, because he wouldn't approve, they had to keep it a secret. Marie married George because their parents insisted, it was more of an arranged marriage than anything else, and she never found much joy in it, except her daughter, that's why she wanted to Catherine to have a better chance.

Catherine had to work that day, but she couldn't concentrate much on her work, she was constantly lost in her thoughts, just waiting for the closing time. When the evening neared, Marie arrived to the shop with the earlier chosen dress and all the make up she could find at home. Her blonde locks were neatly organized into a bun and one single daisy were pinned into her hair. The dress was knee-long, deep green and adjusted with every detail to the latest fashion. By the time her make-up was ready, the evening came.

Her mother had to leave to arrive back home before her father and provide Catherine alibi, that she went out with one of her friends, who is clearly not a boy.

Not long after her mother's departure, the doorbell chimed as somebody entered the shop. Catherine knew who it was even before seeing the boy who she waited for the whole day. Isaiah froze in his step when his eyes fall upon her. She was beautiful and he couldn't hide his thoughts from his face as he was staring at her in awe. Catherine just blushed shyly, not knowing what to do now.

"You look beautiful" Isaiah was the first to break the silence between them, a huge smile spreading on his lips.

"You don't look to bad either" she said as she looked him up and down. He was wearing his usual attire, but looked dashing none the less.

"Shall we?" he asked, offering his arm for her, which she gladly accepted after she quickly closed up the shop.

"You never told me where are we going" Catherine stated as they were walking arm-in-arm to an unknown destionation.

"Do you like dancin'?" Isaiah asked, looking down at her with a mischevious grin.

"Yes, very much." she looked up to him with a beaming smile.

"Then do not worry, darlin', you will just love this place." he winked down at her and in that moment Isaiah realized, he really enjoyed the close proximity of her body to his and her delicate hand on his arm.

From the outside the building looked rather run down, but a lively music filled the surrounding streets.

"What is this place?" Catherine asked the boy who she was still clinging on.

"This is the best place to dance in Small Heath and that is all you have to know." Isaiah answered as he pulled her inside the bustling bar.

Catherine didn't dare to let his hand go for she feared she would get lost in the crowd. Laughing people were around them everywhere, enjoying their free time after a hard working day, and most of them were already tipsy. This enviroment was a completely new experience for Catherine, she has never been to a place like this before, but she had to realize she quite enjoys this outgoing way of pastime. Isaiah lead her to the dancing people, and Catherine couldn't stop herself and immediatelly started to sway to the music, Isaiah following her.

They danced through the night, enjoying every moment of it.
