It was November, three days before Thanksgiving. Me and Jahseh were out getting things for the holiday. Since we spent Thanksgiving dinner with my family last year, me and Jahseh decided that we wanted to do our own dinner here at our house. Just the three of us. Well of course Redd was going to be there along Sonya, Leslie, and Kolbey. My mother and father were spending Thanksgiving dinner at my grandparents house and was excited that we planned on doing our own thing this year.
Leslie and Kolbey had made it in yesterday afternoon and were at our house with Miracle. They begged to babysit which wasn't a problem for me and Jahseh.
We were at the Food Market getting things for Thursday. Although I didn't want to come here. Sedric was a bold guy and would probably speak to me even though Jahseh would be right by my side and we all know how it went down a couple of years ago at Apple Bees with the waiter. He wasn't scared to let people know that I was his even if it meant him beating up a guy. I learned that the hard way.
We were at the check out line getting ready to pay for the groceries and that's when I regretted coming to this checkout counter.
While I hurried and piled things onto the counter, Sedric the cutie was standing there eyeing me down. I tried my hardest not to make eye contact with him for the sake of his life. Jahseh would definitely think something was up. Luckily, he didn't speak to me and we were able to get our things and head come. I started the car up as I felt Jahseh's brown eyes on me. I looked at him so clueless.
"What?" I started the car.
"You know him?" He said with his eyebrow lifted.
"Who?" I played dumbfounded.
"The dude at the checkout counter."
"No, why you ask?" I was hoping he didn't get any ideas.
"Ion know. He was giving you a stare and it did something to me. Better be lucky I didn't cause a scene because if I felt like it, I would have." And he was right. If anyone would even look at me wrong, Jahseh would have no problem confronting that person. He calls it protecting, I most definitely call it jealousy.
Though I wanted to tell the truth, he would have lost it if he knew that I was friends with a cutie like him. We weren't even friends but in Jahseh's head, that's what it would have been to him. "I guess he thought I was pretty or something." I shrugged my shoulders and drove off.
Later on that day, me and Les spent the afternoon watching Christmas movies while Miracle sat on the floor playing with her toys and Jahseh and Kolbey were at Redd's house. Since December was right around the corner from November, my favorite type of movies to watch were Christmas movies. Jahseh thought it was weird and lame.
"So how are you and Sean? You usually talked about him to me on facetime all the time and when you came here to visit me. Now you haven't mentioned a word to me about him." She shrugged her shoulders and sipped her red wine since we are both 21 and legal now.
"We're not in the best shape right now." She never made eye contact with me.
"Why not? You were so in love with him."
"Yea but something isn't right which is why I didn't invite him here with me."
I sat my wine down as I became interested in my best friend's convo. "What do you mean something isn't right? Is he cheating or something?"
She never looked up. She just moved the tip of her finger around the ring of the wine glass which told me the answer. "I feel like he is but then again, I don't have any proof."
I felt bad for my friend and to hear that she thinks her boyfriend whom she was really in love cheat on her made me feel for her, "What makes you think he's cheating?"
