Hal exited the gates of Oa as fast as he could, knowing Hector would be hard at work destroying Earth and all. He flew down, eager to stop Hector, whatever it took. After about five minutes, however, he noticed something. A green ship, not unlike the one that Abin Sur had, was following him. At first he thought it was Kilowog, joining him for the trip to Earth, but as the ship got closer, Hal could see the label 'Security' on the ship. That was strange. All Lanterns were allowed to go flying. Security shouldn't be following him. They didn't when he left for Earth two days ago.

Then it dawned on Hal. Sinestro had corrupted these guards too. As he turned around to face the ship, it fired. Two bullets came flying at Hal's face. He ducked just in time. The bullets kept on coming, though. Hal flew through them as if it was the Oa obstacle course. He summoned a green shield that a unseen bullet thudded into.

Hal knew he couldn't keep this up forever. The bullets were coming faster. Eventually a stray bullet would hit him, or he would run out of power in his ring. He needed to make a move. Wait a second, they were in a ship. Ships, jets, and planes were Hal's jam. This was his territory.

Hal flew under the green jet, looking for something that he knew had to be there. He summoned a screw driver with his ring and unscrewed the maintenance hatch on the ship. He then unplugged one of the wires lightly. Suddenly the bullets stopped. Hal had successfully screwed up the jets guns. His moment of success faded quickly, though. The guards had gotten out of the ship and were headed towards Hal. He pointed his ring at the closest Lantern and a green laser beam struck the guard. He moved the laser slightly to make contact with the second guard. They recovered quickly and summoned two fists to attack Hal. He dodged and countered the attack with a fist of his own. The guards sent two giant bricks to catch Hal's fist. They then summoned some guns and started shooting. He blocked the bullets with the shield that he had become accustomed to summoning every time he saw something green. Hal had noticed that the shield's power had grown immensely since the first time he summoned it.

Hal focused on growing the shield's size. This dimmed the power that it held, but extended the range of it. Hal separated the guards from their ship. He then flew under the ship and fixed the wire that he had gently removed. After the ship was fixed, he hopped in it and released his shield. Hal flew past the guards in the direction of Earth, leaving them in the dust.
