Hal and B'Shi bolted up the stairs of the tower. They needed to get to the citadel as soon as possible to warn the Guardians about whatever happened to Hector. Hal had no idea what it was, but he knew it was evil. He could sense it. Hal raced to the main floor of the gigantic building, B'Shi close behind him. He had just made it out the doors when he heard a scream.
Hal whipped around at the sound of the scream and ran back inside to find Hector, eyes glowing yellow and head deformed, grabbing B'Shi by the neck.
"B'Shi!" Hal yelled.
Hal spotted a nearby table and used his ring to throw it at Hector. Hector used his free hand to summon yellow energy to block the table and send in to the ground, breaking it. Hector smiled creepily. Hal wondered what Hector had touched to make him like this. He looked as if he was, what's the word? Possessed.
"Hal..." B'Shi managed, finding her breath. "Go and... get help."
Hal hesitated, not wanting to leave B'Shi with whatever was left of Hector.
"He won't... kill me," B'Shi promised. "Only use me as... bait."
Hal nodded slowly and reluctantly turned and headed out of the tower, making a beeline for the citadel.
He flew into the citadel, interrupting a deep conversation that the Guardians were having.
"Ahh, Hal Jordan," Scar acknowledged. "You're back."
"Yeah, not for long. I just came back to tell you that there's a human scientist here who has recently touched something yellow in a dead alien's body, giving him a deformed head and evil yellow eyes, which for some reason made him go crazy and kidnap B'Shi inside the science tower," Hal rushed through, quickly recapping the last three hours of his life.
He shook his head, "My life is so weird."
The Guardians calmly took in what Hal had told them. He waited as they contemplated their next move.
Scar spoke up and last.
"We will send Sinestro along with a squad of Lanterns to investigate."
"Sinestro?" Hal asked, incredulously. "No! He's the one that caused this!"
"That is a very serious accusation, Jordan," Ganthet said, looking down at Hal.
"Indubitably," Scar agreed.
"It was him. I know it."
"Your evidence?" Scar questioned.
"I saw him. On Earth, talking to Hector," Hal said.
"Hector?" Ganthet asked.
"He's the scientist," Hal replied hastily.
"And then what happened?"
"I tried following them. I backed them into a corner. But they were gone. And there was nowhere for them to go. Except up."
"Are you suggesting that Sinestro... what is it you humans call it?" Scar started. "Abducted this Hector person?"
"You said that the scientist touched something in a 'dead alien's body,'" Ganthet said suddenly. "Did you recognize the alien?"
"Yes, actually. I did," Hal said. "It was Abin Sur."
This got the Guardians talking. They immediately started whispering to themselves.
"Silence!" Scar yelled.
Sinestro had arrived, behind him several more Lanterns.
"What are you waiting for?" Scar demanded after a few seconds. "Go!"
"Alright then, come on Jordan," Sinestro said. "We got a monster to catch."
