A story about 8 best friends who separated at the start of their high school years and got back together over the death of one of them. Now they're trying their best to find what killed her and why she died.

Ethan – Ethan is the main protagonist, he's the ex-boyfriend of Anna who died not so long after their break up. Has a smart-ass attitude that can get him kicked out of school, he transferred from his prestigious high school for a run down under performing one—same school as Violet and Skyler—and is about to get kicked out. He is oblivious of Claire's feelings for him because he's way too caught up on trying to find out why Anna died. He thinks that he killed Anna because he broke up with her harshly and didn't give her that time to explain herself.

Jayden – Jayden is a playful, popular and fun yet cocky and easily angered boy who he was kicked out of school for getting involved in a physical fight and almost hurting the other boy so much he almost died – exaggeration – but the thing is that he hit no one at all, he didn't even lay a figure on the boy, however no one believed him. That's also the reason why his stepmother and father are afraid of him and shun him. He has a major crush on Claire but gives up on her when he found out that she only has feelings for Ethan. Jayden decides to give Violet a chance with him; well technically he fell for her when she fell for another.

Noah – Noah is another smart-ass like literally a smart-ass because his intelligence is greater than Ethan, Claire and Anna put together, however he chooses the second-best school with Lydia. He doesn't have a very good relationship with Skylar but after finding out that she likes him, he was willing to give her a chance. Just like Claire and Jayden, Noah has to please his father no matter what is takes so that means his mother is afraid of him.

Anna – Anna is bright, kind, sweet and a nice girl, everyone would go to her to work everything out or if they have any troubles or things they would want to say out loud. She was the type of person that would be there for everyone when they needed it the most, so her death was the thing that made them come back to each other again – to find out why she passed away. Her death was also the thing that made the other 7 cry their hearts out for the first time in a long time.

Claire – Claire is cold, mean and a rude person, but, before she was a nice, kind and a loving girl who would do anything for her friends, but everything changed when she entered High School, and the reason for that was her father. She wants to impress her father like all her older siblings did and in order to do that her father illegally emitted her into the most prestigious high school. That's the reason for her coldness and the reason why she thinks that she was the one that killed Anna. Claire is somewhat bullied by 2 girls in her class, forcing her to do all this stuff and betraying her friends. She has a major crush on Ethan more than Jayden has a crush on her.

Lydia – Lydia is not particularly good at studying despite ending up in the second-best school and winds up pregnant which worsen the situation. She struggles with her teacher who is intolerable with the idea of having a pregnant student in his class and is intent on having her quit. Her mother wasn't okay with it at first; she was devastated and angry and could no longer trust her daughter but is willing to do anything for her. Really wanted to be a Rockstar but that dream is slowly fading away because of the child that is in her womb. Later, she ends up at Ethan's recent school, leaving Noah alone at the second-rate school, because of her pregnancy.

Violet – Violet is a bit of an outsider whose only friend at school is her stuff black rabbit – well until everyone comes back. She's a computer nerd and a bit of an emo; she's constantly writing up stories on her laptop, mainly about vampires and zombies and she finds it very difficult to write romance novels. Violet is the other person that everyone goes to, however she's just there to lend a shoulder for them to cry on and she's just there to hear what the other person has to say – just there for comfort. She doesn't have a major crush on Jayden, it's just a silly like thing she tries for her story but ends up falling deeply in love with him.

Skylar – Skylar is a beautiful and popular girl who wishes to be a model one day, so in order to do that she focuses more on her looks than on her studies. She wants to be friends with Violet during school hours but Violet refuses, mostly because their statuses are different—they belonged in different cliques. She and Noah don't have a good relationship with each other despite being best friends along with the others; she just hates his sense of fashion and him in general because he's a nerd. However, she gradually starts to love him and forms a one-sided crush on him. She may seem perfect but with domestic violence in the way, her dreams of becoming a model is slowly fading away.
