where were you today?

i waited at the diner for you,

but, you never showed.

i waited all day.

i grew so angry,

you were always at the diner,

it was a saturday,

and you always come a little early.

i decided i'd wait.

but daylight started to run out,

just like my patience.

so i went to the once place i thought you'd be.

the grave yard.

and you were there.

but you were asleep.

you looked so peaceful.

i wanted to wrap my arms around you so bad.

but i just sat down beside you and watched as you slept.

there was make up stains down your cheeks.

why do you cry so much?

it hurts me to see you so saddened.

i looked at the grave to see who it belonged to.

"shannon renee,

1971-2013

loving mother, sister, and daughter."

she was your mother? wasn't she.

i'm so sorry baby.

i just wiped away the stray tears and stood up.

i sighed and took of my jacket

i laid it over you and walked away.
