I stared down at the letter in front of me that was crumpled from being carried around in my bag for the last two years, I tried to smooth it out with the palm of my hand like I always did, but the defiant paper stubbornly held onto its creases.  My eyes traced the familiar handwriting, I don’t know why I still insist on carrying it round with me, its not as if I don’t have every word memorised.  I guess it just makes me feel closer to him, closer to my old life.

“Ah, excuse me miss this is for you, from the chap over there” he said placing another scotch down and gesturing to the other end of the bar.

I looked up to see a good looking young guy leaning expectantly against the bar, I fought not to roll my eyes at his naivety, if only he knew that he had just wasted good money buying a drink for a chick that couldn’t be less interested in men.  I uncaringly let my attention drift back down to the bar top, he must have taken the hint because the next time I glanced up he was gone.

I sighed and turned my attention back to the letter.

‘Dear Millie…’

“It’s not spiked you know” I heard a deep voice drawl from behind me.

I quickly tucked the letter back into my bag, not wanting to let anyone see it before turning to see the guy from a minute ago sitting on the barstool next to me.  Holy shit, this guys actually really hot I thought as I got a proper look at him, he had black hair buzzed shorter round the sides and styled messily on top, every angle of his face was perfectly sculpted and from what I could see he had a smoking hot body.  The guy looked like a freaking male model, too bad his attention is wasted on me.

I quickly averted my gaze.

“Thanks” I said as I grabbed the drink he bought and chucked it down the hatch in one, I revelled in the burn in my throat for only a second before grabbing my bag and making for the exit.

Please don’t follow me.

“Hey wait!”

shit.

I pointedly ignored him as I picked up my pace. Desperately hoping I could reach my apartment before he caught up with me, yet I knew that was impossible.

“Wait up!” I heard him call out from behind me, again I purposefully ignored him.

Damn, can’t this handsome bastard take a hint?

“Hey! Hey..wait a sec” He said as he caught up with me.

I felt his hand on my wrist and froze as tingles spread rapidly up my arm, what the hell was that?  I haven’t felt anything like it before, the only thing slightly similar I’ve felt was….Danny.  I gulped and looked up into this stranger’s face, before looking down to my arm, where I was sure the fine hairs were standing on end.

“Sorry” He apologised hastily dropping my arm from his grip, I shivered as the tingles disappeared leaving my arm feel slightly cold.

“Here, you’re shivering, take this” He said, shrugging his stylish leather jacket off and holding it out to me.

For some reason I was momentarily frozen, locked into battle with his intriguing dark blue eyes, I don’t think I’ve ever seen eyes like his before.

“Here” he said quietly as he placed the jacket over my shoulders.

I was instantly engulfed by his aftershave and had to stop myself from breathing in greedily, it smelled good.

“Thanks” I said quietly, feeling highly uncomfortable with the situation.

How on earth did I end up standing on the sidewalk at gone midnight on a Sunday night talking to a complete stranger, a male stranger at that.
