Chapter 4

(Y/N's POV)
The next day everything is back to normal. The runners are given warning to extra careful running today because of the maze being wet still and a slipping hazard.
Everyone goes about their day as normal working hard as usual. Until just before dinner when all the Runners are back but everyone is still working. We hear a scream from the Deadheads and then Thomas appears running away from someone or something which I later find out is Ben.
He had been stung by a Griever and was jacked in the head. Nearly killing Thomas.
I patch up Thomas' head while the Keepers decide what to do with Ben.
The verdict is he is to be banished at sun down.
I can't watch him be Banished. Minho and Newt two of my closest friends not only have to watch but have push him into the maze themselves with long poles.
I can't believe Minho would do that to one of his closest friends. I could never do that.
After Ben is banished Minho tries to talk to me but I brush him off and don't make any effort to talk to him.
"What's wrong?" He asks me.
"How could you push one of your best friends into the maze, essentially indirectly  murdering them," I say angrily. "You aren't the person I though you were,".
And with that I storm away from him, he doesn't even make any effort to say anything or prove me wrong or get his point across. I don't talk to him for the rest of the day.
The next morning Alby asks to speak with me.
"Y/N, all the Runners quit this morning and we need someone to step in and help Minho," Alby says.
"I feel like your leading up to something," I say.
"Newt and I think that you would be a great fit," Alby says.
"Alby, I'm just a MedJack and I have never ran more than from the Med hut to the maze doors," I say.
"We believe in you and the Glade is counting on You, we also think that Thomas would be a good fit for the job," Alby says.
"Okay I'll give it a go," I say grinning.
"Great I'll tell Minho he has two new running partners,".
I see Alby telling Minho the news and then I see Minho storming in my direction.
"ARE YOU CRAZY!?!?! YOU CAN'T BE A RUNNER!" Minho yells at me.
"Why not? We don't have a choice!" I shout back. I feel the eyes of fellow Gladers on me.
"Because you're a MedJack and we need you here! Where you are safe!"Minho continues yelling.
"Well that just means if someone gets hurt I know what to do and u can fix them  up in the maze," I shout.
"And what if you get hurt? Then what?" Minho asks lowering his voice slightly so only I hear it.
"Then you take me back to the Glade! I'm not some damsel in distress! I can take care of myself!" I say.
"Fine do whatever you want u don't give a SHUCK anymore!" Minho shouts and storms off to shout at someone else.
I go and climb a tree in the Deadheads and stay there.
Newt comes  and finds me.
"You know he likes really," He says. " Like a scary amount,"
"Funny way if showing it," I mutter.
"The maze has hardened him and he just has problems expressing feelings, you just run the maze and he doesn't need to worry,"
And the next day I do. Thomas and run the maze with Minho no problem. No one gets hurt and we manage to keep up with Minho okay. I am nearly as fast Minho actually but I still don't speak to him.
