Leaders
It's different from what you think. I swear.
There are leaders split up to rule over certain groups of people. It's like the whole world is seperated into different kingdoms.
The King or Queen position is never to given to anyone outside of the family when the previous one retires. The only exception is when the new king or queen marries out side of the family. Which is obviously mandatory.
When the new Royalty marries they need to make sure the love is true. To be sure their new partner isn't using them. Sometimes the parents of the new royalty force them to marry other royalty so they don't have to go through the trouble.
Though in each royal family is a Gem like pendant that they wear. It's to signify their authority. And it may or may not give powers of some sort. I'll figure that out as I work on this. Here are the pendants:

That's Gold,Violet,And Orange These pendants are passed down through the family to the most eligible child.
