Getting Close

(Before you're confused about the picture, it was accidental and I don't know how to fix it. But hey, I think it looks funny.)
She was starting to get frustrated. She had tried everything she could think of, which was admittedly not a long list, but nothing was helping her get closer to the tiny jewel-like planet. She had poked it, prodded it, glared at it somewhat menacingly, but nothing had gotten her closer. In a final, rather frustrated attempt, she began to will the planet bigger. She concentrated with every particle of her being, but nothing happened. Giving up, she dejectedly curled up into a ball as tightly as she could, waiting for something to happen. And then something happened. Of course if something had not happened we wouldn't have a story. Her humanoid form loosened, becoming more of an amorphous blob as it twisted and shrank in on itself. Realizing what she had accomplished, she celebrated by immediately undoing what she had just done. It was unfortunate, but now she knew she could change shape, and with trial and error she eventually managed to shrink to the point where she could successfully land on the planet. Like a dark blot she raced downward, passing through the planets atmosphere and promptly catching fire. Confused by this recent development but not harmed, she paid it no mind and continued. Somehow realizing that colliding with the planet's surface wouldn't end well she tried to slow her descent. Focusing on slowing down, she noticed something strange. The large shiny stone that more or less was her began glowing ever so slightly, and though this goes against most known laws of physics, she began to slow down. As she continued to slow down she eventually began to float downwards instead of fall. She then landed on the planet's surface. She was so happy at her own success that she immediately forgot about whatever had just occurred and rolled around on the ground, taking in the new and rather pleasant scent emanating from the soil she was lying on and the brightly colored flowers nearby. Lying on the soft ground she stretched her body out to fit the space available, only now realizing that the strange pull she was feeling came from the forest floor beneath her. Though it was strange, she met no real resistance as she rose up from the ground in a loose column of blackish smoke and took humanoid form once again. (Anyone seeing this would immediately panic, but seeing as no one else was there save for some sparse wildlife, this didn't occur.) Now she was faced with a new issue. She had no clue how to walk. Legs weren't really needed in the vast recesses of space, so she had no clue how to really use them. Opting to float instead of dealing with legs right then, she began to explore. Due to the fact that she was more or less an infant with the ability to walk, float, change shape, and destroy entire planets, most of this exploring consisted of touching everything within reach (and sometimes sticking those things in her mouth). Finding a small creature crawling across a leaf, she sat down and stared, completely fascinated by this small purplish insectoid in front of her. However, she wasn't so fascinated that she didn't hear the noise behind her.
