I sat looking out to the mountains, skimming stones softly across the water. With every bounce of the stone on water I felt a little bit of stress ebb away and be replaced with tranquillity and peace of mind. I pulled my jacket around me further to protect myself from the cold that the water was bringing to me, a little breeze blowing tiny wisps of hair into my eyes.

It’s so different here compared to my old town. I know no one and it just doesn’t seem as bright and cheerful. This is the only place that offers me comfort as it reminds me of a place I used to go in my old town. Except it misses the willow tree with its gangly branches which brush against your hair and the old cherry blossom that used to bloom sweet flowers in the spring. It’s not quite the same but it’s the best I’ve got and it makes me feel as if I’m back there. I skimmed another stone softly, ripples following after each bounce before settling to be still. The mist clouded the sky in the distance, covering the setting sun. Pink, orange and yellow hues scattered around the sky. Not as beautiful as the sunset back in LA, unlike LA the sunsets were bright and vibrant whereas here the colours appeared muted and dull.
