21 - "i love you"

"so... we're good?" draco asks as we seat ourselves at a table near the window. the same window in which we had first met. cars and pedestrians passed by.

"yes, for the last time,"

"i don't get it we were mad at each other and then i got really wasted which should make you more mad,"

"madder," i corrected.

"nope. it's definitely more mad."

"do you remember anything from last night?"

"uhm yeah we fought and i got blackout drunk," he said, confused. "why, did something happen? oh no what did i say? what did i do?"

i laughed. "nothing. everything. i love you," the three words just came tumbling out and i didn't bother to stop them. his cheeks and nose turned the shade of pink i loved so much and his face contorted into surprise and confusion.

"two café au laits!" the barista called.

i stood up to get the drinks, leaving draco to take in the three words i told him. by the time i came back, he still looked bewildered.

"here you go," i said lovingly, handing him the coffee and sat back down.

"wait- urgh-" draco stuttered before the subject could change, his face turning pinker by the second. "i- i love you too,"

i like my truths like i like my coffee. simple, sweet and pure. coffee with milk, café au lait, the whisper of the words, "i love you,"
