. . . .

Character's Name: (Y/N)

Plot: (Y/N) Wants To Do Better To Prove Her Critic Wrong.

Type: Fluff

. . . .

(Y/N) always pushed herself beyond her limits. She knew she could do better.

She was punching the boxing bag while the rest of the Avengers were out having fun. She couldn't go with them, not because they didn't want her to, but because she needed to train.

No one knew how tired she was, no one knew the internal struggle she was facing.

She was oblivious to the world around her. She was oblivious to Steve and Bucky entering the gym. She kicked the bag with such force it broke.

A low whistle escaped Bucky's mouth causing (Y/N) to turn around. "Hey guys" she greeted.

"What's got you so wound up? You need a buddy to punch. Steve volunteers" Bucky said causing (Y/N) to roll her eyes.

"I can train with you" Steve suggested. Bucky smirked slightly. "Yeah, Steve needs to fight someone he actually has a chance with."

(Y/N) shrugged her shoulders. "Sure, I could do with some practice." She didn't tell them she was exhausted.

(Y/N) went to the mat while Bucky punched Steve's arm playfully, before the blonde super soldier followed the woman.

Steve stood opposite (Y/N), the woman who could almost predict anyone's next move.

"Be prepared to lose" (Y/N) smirked at Steve, causing him to roll his eyes. Bucky left the room, leaving the two alone.

Steve went towards her but she dodged him with ease. "Try harder" she sang out. He grabbed her arm, she broke out of his grip instantly.

She kicked his stomach, then went to punch him. He grabbed her fist and threw her to the mat with a loud thud. A gasp escaped her mouth at the impact.

A groan escaped her mouth as she kicked him off her. She got up but her breathing was heavy.

All of a sudden she felt tired, extremely tired. Steve noticed how she went pale. "I think you need to sit down" he told her. She shook her head.

(Y/N)'s vision was going blurry. "Steve" she whispered. "Yeah." "Catch me." Steve was confused until she started to fall. The last thing she heard was Steve calling her name.

When (Y/N) woke up she noticed she was in an unfamiliar bed. A groan escaped her mouth.

"It's nice to see you awake" Steve's voice spoke. "Where- where am I?" "You're in my room. I wanted to make sure you were okay" Steve replied.

She groaned as she slowly sat up. "You were over exhausted. When Bruce told me, I was confused, until I thought about a lot of recent events. You refuse to join us when we go out, you stay at the gym. Why are you doing this to yourself?" Steve asked.

"I want to be better, I want to be stronger" she told him. "You are strong (Y/N), you're stronger than you know" Steve replied.

(Y/N) shook her head. "No Steve, I'm not. I can be better. If I work harder I can be stronger, like you, or Bucky or Nat. I can be better, I can be something other than a disgrace" she explained.

"You're not a disgrace, you're the furthest thing from a disgrace" Steve told her. "I can do better, I can be good enough" she whispered.

"Who made you feel like this" he asked quietly. She looked up at him, tears in her eyes. "I did, Steve, I'm my biggest critic."

Steve took her hand gently in his. "You are amazing. You have nothing to prove to no one, especially yourself. If you make yourself weak to the point of collapsing, you won't be able to do your best. You need to be your normal, strong self."

A smile was on (Y/N) face. "You're truly a wonderful leader, Steve." "I can't have my favourite girl weak or sad now, can I?"

After that day (Y/N) was no longer her own critic. She was tough, strong and gained a perfect relationship with Steve Rogers. Later that relationship became a marriage.

. . . .

I notice all my stories seem to be getting shorter, sorry. I prefer Bucky over Steve, hence why my Bucky stories are usually longer than my Steve ones. I'll try update soon.
