"damn man what the hell taking these niggas so long?" said tay, as we waited in the subway station for nick, jay, glizzy,malani, and aaliyah.
"there's probably traffic" said zaniyah, trying to calm him down. we were currently going to the movies but we didn't know what movie we even wanted to see.
"this dude nick gets his permit and forgets how to drive" says anthony, who was sitting down on a bench with kayla sitting on his lap. damn these two were really moving fast in comparison to me and nick. however, i doubt they were actually dating cause kayla would've told me.
"nigga that don't even make sense" said tay, angrily
"baby chill out" said zaniyah
"im sorry baby, i'm just grumpy cause i haven't ate yet and you know i hate waiting."
"it's okay" said zaniyah, rubbing his back.
anthony cleared his throat, waiting for his apology.
"i'm sorry anthony" said tay "remind me again why we're taking the train and not an uber, and why nick and i aren't driving to the movies?"
"because its easier for all of us to meet here and go all together." i said
"huh? y'all be so stupid when it comes to making plans, it's absurd" said tay
"i thought you said you were gonna be nicer?" said kayla
"this dude couldn't be nicer even if he tried" say anthony.
suddenly, i noticed nick, jay, glizzy, malani, aaliyah, and... a stud?
nick came over to hug me, jay went to flacka, and aaliyah was standing next to the stud.
"bro finally" said tay "i'm so fucking hungry my blood pressure going down"
"yo what took y'all so long?" asked flacka, walking over to jay.
"do you know how many fucking people i had to pick up?" asked nick, pulling away from our hug.
"guys, this is levy" said aaliyah, signaling to her friend. "levy, this is kiari, anthony, kayla, flacka, zaniyah, and taymor"
we all waved at levy and she waved back at us. it was weird how none of us had ever heard about levy, but i shrugged the thought away and started thinking about something more important: Nick.
finally, the train arrived and we all got in. luckily, there were plenty of empty seats for us to be comfortable throughout this 20 minutes ride, and of course, i sat next to nick.
"so what's been up with you ma?" asked nick, staring me down. he was staring me down the same way he always does before he kisses me, but right now, he didn't kiss me.
"nothing" i said "you?"
"i've been chilling, you look cute today"
i blushed, this could've been the perfect time to kiss me or what not, but he didn't. was it because he was with his friends? i wanted to be upset, but i also wanted to stop overthinking, so i did.
"thank you, you always look cute" i told him
"i try" he said, shrugging and making a lightskin face which made me giggle.
"yo stop" i said, playfully smacking his arm.
"nah but for real key, you could deadass be a fashion nova model right now"
"hell no,never that"
" well why not?"
"because i don't got all those curves and all that body"
he sucked his teeth and rolled his eyes. "you really finna lie to me kiari?"
"whaaaat?"
"you got a nice ass body, and even if you didn't, you got that nice ass face, and even if you didn't, you got that nice ass brain"
i blushed again "oh my god nick stooop."
while we were conversing, i noticed kayla and anthony literally all up on each other, they weren't even trying to hide it. must be nice.
to the left of them were malani and glizzy, who were geeking over a small photograph. i assumed it was their baby's sonogram picture
"oh my god is that the baby?" i asked
"yes.." said glizzy
"CAN I SEE?" i asked
"sure" said malani, handing me to picture. suddenly everyone wanted grabby-grabby on the picture. malani and glizzy just stared at eachother, and then at us.
"yo what the hell is wrong with y'all?" aaliyah asked glizzy and malani.
"it's just that.." malani started
glizzy finished for her "we was gonna surprise y'all with cute little keychains with the picture until kiari big mouth ruined it." he glared at me.
"i'm so sorry, but y'all had the picture on display for the world to see!"
"it's okay" said malani "she's right, we could've been more secretive about it."
damn, this pregnancy really making malani a better person, it's crazy.
"damn it kinda look like glizzy" said jay, looking at the baby picture. anthony smacked the back of his head.
"are you that stupid?" he asked
"i was just being funny" jay said
"well it didn't work uglass" said anthony.

we were in line to buy our snacks. we had decided to purchase tickets to see Dr.strange, at least everyone except tay, who decided he didn't wanna see " a white ass movie". zaniyah went along with him.
aaliyah and levy had gotten their food and they were waiting for the rest of us to get our food. aaliyah was really giggly, like really giggly. levy was feeding her popcorn. damn, even aaliayh was getting more attention from her "friend" than i was from the guy i was talking to.
in front of us, anthony and kayla who were ordering their snacks. suddenly and slowly, anthony's hand slid around kayla's waist. me and nick looked at each other.
"these niggas dating?" he asked me, loud enough for everyone to hear. i shrugged. when anthony and kayla were done buying their food, anthony turned around and said to nick "not yet".
"ayyyy i see you" nick said. damn i wish anthony could see nick.
once we ordered, i started pulling out my wallet. nick told me to put in away but i insisted.
"you never let me pay for shit yo" i said
"because i don't want you to, yo" he said.
"nick, please. i'm an independent woman." i pleaded. the cashier cleared her throat.
"okay kiari, go ahead" he said. and i paid the $43.78 for our food.
behind us, i hear flacka tell jay "i'm paying for my food baby"
and he quickly replied with "shut the hell up, no you not. whatchu want ma?"

it was thirty minutes into the boring ass movie, and nick had done nothing. at this point i literally thought he didn't want our friends to find out about us.
finally, the anger and confusion inside of me created courage. i took his drink out his mouth and pushed my face into his and kissed him, and he kissed back. however, he eventually pulled back. i kinda regret kissing him with a mouth full of coca-cola because some went into my mouth. disgusting.
suddenly, nick whispered in my ear, so close that i felt tickling in my thigh. "go outside" he told me. then he grabbed my hand and guided me out. we walked past malani and glizzy, who were on their phones, aaliayh and levy, who were watching the movie, jay and flacka, who were sucking each other's faces off, and lastly, anthony and kayla, who were cuddling.
"i'm glad you brought me out here" i told nick. he got closer to me. "why?"
"because i'm mad at you" i said straight up. i wasn't going to lie or pretend like nothing was wrong. "why are you acting different?"
he chuckled "huh?"
"when we're in private you're all kissy kissy and shit and now in front of our friends, it's like we're just friends"
he threw his head back "kiari"
"what? am i embarrassing?"
"kiari" he said softly "you're far from embarrassing. you're a gem. you're one of my proudest accomplishments. you being my girl is something that i wanna show off, i'm just not comfortable with PDA. it's weird to me. i wanna be able to be with you without having to be all up on you, you feel me?"
"i'm y-your girl?" i stuttered
"yes" he laughed "you my girl"
"but we've only been talking for like three weeks" i said
"so? i like you enough to make you my girl. we not dating or nothing like zaniyah and tay, but you my girl, and i'm ya nigga, right?"
i nodded.
"plus i've already called you my girl, why are you surprised?"
"because you've never really established that i'm your girl nick"
"well i just did " he said "we just vibing baby" he said, looked around to see if anyone was around, and kissed me.
suddenly, i didn't give a fuck about him being all up on me or not. bitch i was his girl.
