*Finn's Age: 19*

Finn's P.O.V

Today is a day that I both feared and looked forward to. It's the annual day where you show your parents how much you appreciate them. Can't mean much to me since my real dad was a prick and my mom's gone, but I think it'll still be good to partake in the occasion. As I sit on the top of my cozy treehouse, I think about what I can thank my parents for. Well, I can thank my mom for bringing me into this world and giving me a chance to meet all my friends. But, there's nothing I can thank my dad for, other than being a deadbeat that abandoned me when I was a baby. But then my thoughts shift to my adoptive parents, Joshua and Margaret. Technically, they're Jake's mom and dad, but they let me call them that too. And I suppose, now that I'm actually thinking about it, they do feel more like my real parents anyway, so I really shouldn't have a problem with calling them 'Mom' and 'Dad'. Jake's actually at their place right now, spending some time with them per the holiday. I might still be able to do something for them since I can't do anything for my other parents. Yeah, that sounds mathematical! I nod to myself and head inside, going downstairs.

I quickly leave the treehouse with my demon blood sword slung over my back. I'm bringing it for a secret purpose that I can't tell anyone yet. It'll be good though. Joshua and Margaret's home lies west of here, so I start off in that general direction. Even though it's been a while since I last visited them, I still remember the way. Before long, I enter the woods that span a wide section of Ooo. Ugh, so much walking in the forest. At least I can do so as I please. Stepping over numerous twigs and walking past some swamps and rivers, I see Jake's parents house come into view. I make my way up to it and take in the scenery. Margaret must've gotten into gardening since I left, cuz there are way more flower pots out front than I remember. Joshua also must've worked on the exterior, cuz it looks more refurbished and frankly quite better. Shaking my head, I focus on why I'm here and knock politely at the door. I hear slight chatter inside and a second later, the door opens.

"Finn! It's so good to see you, dear!" Margaret exclaims, rushing forward and hugging me tightly.

I smile and squeeze back, glad to see her as well.

"It's great to see you to, Mom" I reply, breaking the contact after a minute.

Margaret's tail wags furiously and she smiles widely.

"Come in, come in, my son. No point standing out there all day you know" Mom says, turning around and re-entering her house.

Ready to see Dad, I follow her shortly. As Margaret closes the door after me, I take a moment to look around the place. Hmm, not much has changed other than the many new swords hanging on the walls and the numerous flowers spread throughout the kitchen and living room. Jake is in deep conversation with Joshua, while Jermaine just relaxes on the couch by himself. I go over and plop down beside him.

"Whaddup, Jermaine?" I ask in a playful tone.

The artistic dog grins and looks at me.

"Finn, my main man" Jermaine says, bumping fists with me, "How's life been with that troublesome brother of mine?"

I chuckle at his words.

"Oh, it's great. Very fulfilling and quite plentiful to be honest. Saving multiple princesses every other day and doing other heroic deeds every now and then" I respond, scratching my shoulder.

"That's good" He nods, looking pleased to hear it, "I will admit that he was quite the piece of work when he was younger, Finn. You wouldn't even recognize him now. He sometimes would take me along with him on his heists and let me listen in on his schemes. I was never interested. But even when Dad found out, Jake didn't stop. But maybe once you came along, he realized that a life of crime will only tear apart those that still care about you."
