Armour...... check, skateboard..........check, snack..........check and weapons..................... check. All set. That's all of my things. Second month on the job and I still go through a checklist every morning, running through the corridors making sure I get everything, Alfa doesn't like if your late for patrols with the killer-pups.
SHIT , I have one minute to get to the car park for today. I run past the training center where Jacob is traing to be a soldier and into the the carpark.
"Ah Abagail, decided to join us today" teases Alfa as he climbs into back of his brand new police car, that we scabbed from a local bunch of kids, that were sleeping in it. Poor things, now they are here as well, the little one works as a maid like Rosie. The car has been redone. Splattered with red paint, which Alfa claims looks like blood and scribbled with very colourful language in bad spelling, I mean seriously, how hard is it to spell idiot. I-D-I-O-T. Some people have no idea.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world" I pant as I get to my position. Holding the car with my right hand, so it pulls me along on my skateboard.
"That's the way, Lets go get'em" He screams from the backseat.
Here we go. Another day of terrorising the city, of possibly killing kids and stealing stuff. Although today does feel different, not as daunting. All of the other killer pups have stopped picking on me for being a girl and instead, ignore me completely.
My skateboard slowly starts to lurk forward. The car starts to crawl out of the car park.
"Hey, wait up, wait for me!" a voice screams from behind. The others are seeming to ignore it. I turn my head slightly, so I can keep my balance. A short dark haired boy is racing towards the car, on a skateboard flinging his arms around. He is reaching quite a speed. Must be George, he is always late, why should I pay him attention, he doesn't for me, so I turn back around. Bloody jerk, he can miss the car, for all I care and he can push the whole way, till he spreads out, like the rest of us.
The yelling gets closer and louder. George doesn't scream like that, he screams like a girl, it mus not be him. Wait how many of us are here, ten..yes that's right..............so who is this person. I turn around, to see him a meter behind me. Gosh, he is gorgeous. This is certainly no George. His dark hair, is rustling in the breeze and his muscles are flexing. Boy do they flex. This guy must be new, wow I can not believe I haven't noticed him before.
I reach out my hand."It's okay, grab on I'll pull you to the car" I scream. The car is picking up quite a pace. The driver must have had too much wine at last nights welccoming ceremony, for some new people. He looks me in the eye and gives a little smile. He encases his big warm hands around mine, and I use all my strenght to pull him to the car. He clutches onto the iron tailgate.
"Thanks" he puffs, giving me another of those million dollar smiles.
"NO problem" I smile back. He shifts his feet onto a more comfortable position on the board. How come he got a purple skateboard with lime green wheels. That is so girly. Ha, I wish I had that board instead of my boring black one. He notices me staring at his board.
"You like?"
"It's awesome, better than mine". He starts to laugh.
"Hey, I'm new, I don't know exactly what to do here so, ummmm............"
"Just follow me" I finish of his sentence for him.
The car does a quick you turn out of the driveway, swerving in every direction. This guy must be over the limit, he never drives like this. The car picks up speed, maybe going 80 km/hr. Too fast. It takes us to the main part of the city, where we can branch off and do what we like, as long as we can report something, when we meet back at 5.30pm. It is definitely a long day. No-one ever really partners up with me unless Alfa sends us on an errand. Which has only been once. Maybe now I will have a partner. The car slows down to a stop, slowly.
