I shudder as the rain slowly trickles down my spine, this flat is really no use for shelter. Holes spring with leaks from the ceiling, dripping with a constant ping. I huddle against Tweeks. HIs little body giving me some warmth but not much. I gave him our only blanket, some stupid idea of mine, as now I shiver from the dripping rain.
I can hear running outside the apartment, and kids screaming. I don't have to look to see who they are. The Killerpups, are up and running again, this time though, they are missing some members. My guess is I have been replaced with some little boy, who now runs about in the rain looking for shelter.
"I know this place", a little hushed voice whispers to me, beside me Tweeks, cuddles in closer to me.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. We are not far from the place that Taylor, goes to. to you know, get all the medicines and poisens and stuff" he Huffs.
"What part of town?" I push for answers if we are so close to, Taylor, why should, we be hiding here. Stuff the rain.
"In the slum, area out on the outskirts of town. You know the place where they used to have that old junkyard?"
I think back, I had always lived on the other side of town, I don't remember any junkyard.
"I didn't grow up around here, I lived on the other side of town" I explain.
"Oh" he looks at me, his blue eyes scanning my face" I grew up just around the corner, we weren't exactly rich you know?"
"Yeah, so um, whats so important about the junkyard again?" I try to get back on the topic of the poison dealer.
"Oh thats where he is, in the main office but, I was never allowed in with him, I had to wait for him outside" HE sucks some dripping water off his top lip.
"How far?" I ask, sucking water off my top lip.
"A block"
I stand up and snatch the blanket from Tweeks, wrapping it up and stuffing it back into my back pack.
"Oi" Tweeks reches for my bag, but I fling it up onto my back and pull him to his feet.
"Let's go" I pace towards the door, pulling up my Hood as I walk.
"What? There. Now. But it's RAINING" Tweeks whines. I twirls around on my heels.
"If you were captured wouldn't you want someone to save you as soon as possible.?"
"Who says he has been captured?" He stamps his foot, his orange hair sticking to his forehead.
"Well, why else has he been gone the amount of days he has been gone?"
"I don't know he has done it before, he went for a week, and when he came back he was fine, well, kinda"
"What do you mean kinda?"
"He was grumpy and sneaky and he bashed up his brother."
"That's why we are going, and your coming and if you complain one more time, I am going to do some serious damage." I say calmly. Of course I am not planning to actually rip his face to shred, I just needed some effect. I mean he is a little kid. I can't exactly walk up to him and make him kiss me, or wrap my arms around his waist and whisper in a girlie voiced 'please'.
"fine" he spits out, he picks up his bag and walks straight through the door and down the stairs, I hurry beside him.
The rain is worse out here, drenching me right to the bone, We hurry along in the shadows of the night, careful not to be to obvious that we are here. My boots are rubbing against the soul of my feet.
