Chapter 21: Revenge

3 Days Later (Your POV)

Six contacted me for more details on our partnership which gave me an opportunity to tell her I was going after Lopez and needed to borrow some of her operators, which she thankfully agreed to. She's sending Jackal, Ela, Doc, Hibana and Lion to meet up with me at where everything began, my childhood home when I give them the word and that she'd keep everyone she could spare on standby nearby in case we need the backup. While I'm lost in my thoughts, Crow taps me on the shoulder and holds out her hand when I turn to face her. "Is everything ok, Crow?" She nods at me and it's then that I notice a phone in her hand that she's holding out to me. Picking up the phone, I recognise a familiar voice. "I know he's there, let me speak to him." Crow and I stare at each other for a few seconds before I answer. "Lucas Edwards, what do you need Captain?" Crow raises an eyebrow at me as she begins leaning against the wall with a hand on her hip. "About time I got to talk to you, I got word of what you're about to do and there is no way in Hell that I'm letting you do this alone. I'm getting the old squad together, I got word that you and Wolf linked up down in Hope County and Wave is sat in some camp training recruits so it should be a piece of cake." Without realising, I start smiling at the thought of Hurricane coming again for one final time to take down the most dangerous terrorist in the world. "You got it Grim, meet me at these coordinates in 2 days." I send the coordinates through and then hand the phone back to Crow, who hangs up on Grim. I turn around and start walking with her next to me, fidgeting slightly. Come to think of it, Crow's been acting odd lately. "You've been acting strange lately, is something the matter?" No response. We continue to walk in silence until I stop outside the door to my room and face Crow, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You can talk to me." Sighing, Crow pulls out her pistol from her holster and hands it to me. "I want you to have this. As a sign of trust and friendship, possibly even more." Crow turns around and walks off without another word, then turns the corner and disappears from sight.

2 Days Later (Your POV)

Coming to a stop in a clearing, I see that I'm the only one here. I chose this forest because my old house is about 2 minutes from here, looks like being further away from the city actually came in handy for once. Crouching in a bush, I hear rustling from nearby branches followed by cursing in Polish which can mean one thing: Ela's turned up. Upon seeing her walk into the clearing with the rest of her group in tow, I walk out from my hiding spot and lean against a tree while activating my voice changer. "Took you long enough." Ela glares at me while Jackal rolls his eyes as the rest begin turning up, including my old squad. Before any of them get a chance to say anything to me, I drag them off out of earshot of the Rainbow operators. "These guys think that Ghost is dead, so don't call me that. Call me Eagle, got it?" Grim, Wolf and Wave nod at me as we turn and walk back to the others, being met with raised eyebrows. "Ok, Lopez is calling me out and expects me to have backup. Grim, Wolf, Wave and I will go and meet him directly, once that happens I want Lion to do an area scan and to give us some sort of insight as to what we're walking into here. Everyone got it?" I receive the sounds of guns being taken off safety and magazines being loaded as confirmation. I begin leading the group through the forest until we reach the house after a couple of minutes. Signalling the Rainbow operators to stay at the edge of the forest, my squad and I begin to move up closer to the house. "Ok, Lion when I say the word 'Sunshine' I want you to activate the scan." Reaching the doors, all of us give a thumbs up as I turn the handle on the front door and step inside the main hallway. Walking inside, the lights flicker on to reveal Lopez with a prosthetic arm and over a dozen armed guards aiming their weapons at us. With a manic grin, Lopez walks over and stops in front of me. "Well, I expected you to bring friends but not these friends. This makes hunting you each down individually much easier, I thank you for that." He draws his fist back and slams it into my stomach, causing me to fall onto one knee while holding my gut. Two guards pull me back up to my feet to face Lopez again. "Nice to see you too, Sunshine." Once those words leave my mouth, I hear a beeping noise in my helmet to alert me of Lion's drone about to perform an area scan. Sure enough, the ground begins to rumble after 3 seconds. One or two of the guards stumble a bit but nothing too major happens. "I see fourteen in that room with you and there's another six patrolling around, two upstairs, two on the ground floor and two in the basement."  In another part of the house, gunshots begin to go off followed by the sounds of a thud. "Before you ask who that is, I got no idea." That's not a lie, they would have told me if they were breaching. Right? Lopez delivers me a backhand before turning his back on me and yelling orders to his men, giving me the perfect opportunity. I grab him from behind and point Crow's pistol at his temple. "Get back, get the fuck back!" The guards have gone into a frenzy, they're being attacked by an unknown force and their leader has a gun to his head. As things begin to calm down, one by one they all drop their weapons to the ground and raise their hands into the air. With no hesitation, the squad begins to grab the weapons and remove their sidearms and knives to make sure they can't fight back. Ela, Jackal and Lion come round the corner with their weapons raised but lower them with shocked looks after seeing what's in front of them. Suddenly, pain explodes in my thigh and I look down to see Lopez has stuck a knife in my leg. He smashes the back of his head into my chin and breaks from my grasp and grabs his knife in the process. I hear Ela yelling for someone to take him down but Grim yells back that this is my fight. Lopez swings at me with his fist and completely takes off my helmet, grazing my left cheek a little with the knife. He then raises his arm over his head, going for a killing blow. As he brings the knife down, I put my arm out in front of me and feel the jagged blade dig into my forearm. Using my free arm, I use the palm of my hand to hit Lopez's elbow and use enough force to snap it, hearing a satisfying crack to indicate that I've broken his arm. He falls to the ground screaming while holding his shattered elbow. By now, the rest of the Rainbow squad have turned up and seen me without my helmet and Lopez on the ground. Sniffling, Lopez does the most cowardly thing ever. "Please, don't kill me!" I position myself above him and start pummelling him non-stop, even as I'm getting yelled at to stop. Grim, Wolf and Wave are making sure that the others don't get to me and pull me off of this piece of shit. I continue to punch him, harder and harder with each hit. Soon enough, Lopez's face has been rendered to a bloody mess with missing teeth and a destroyed nose. Ela finally manages to break through the others and shove me off Lopez while punching me in the arms and crying. "You asshole! Why didn't you come back?! Do you have any idea what sort of an impact your death had on us?!" Ignoring Ela, I try and shove past her to finish off what I started. This time, Ela stands in front of me and punches me square in the jaw. "You've done enough, just do us all a favour and wait outside! If you try and come back inside I'll...I'll shoot you in the dick!" Holding said area, I walk outside while being followed by Hibana and Doc. Hibana stands next to me crossing her arms while Doc stands next to me looking like he's trying not to shoot me. "You've got some explaining to do, vous piquer." I sigh and lean against the door frame. "Yeah, guess I do." The others start walking outside with mixed expressions. Ela looks like a mixture of ecstatic to see me and trying not to stab me, Jackal is giving my a sympathetic look and Lion is just shaking his head while leading out Lopez. "I take it killing him is out of the question?" Hibana smacks the back of my head before walking off to talk with Ela, leaving me alone with Doc. "Look, Gustave. I'm sorry, truly I am." He pats me on the shoulder while looking over towards Ela and Hibana. "Maybe I'm not the one you should be apologising to. Either way, it's great to have you back, Ghost." Before I can walk over to Ela, Grim taps me on the back. Turning to him, he holds out his hand. "It was amazing to work with you again, I hope this isn't the last time." I shake his hand with a smile and a nod. "It won't be." He smiles at me while the other two each give me a nod and they walk off down the street, then disappear from sight. Ela and I make eye contact and she begins to walk towards me, this is going to be an awkward conversation.
