Melrose’s P.O.V
I heard an attentive knock at the door. I pulled my eyes open, to see my mom standing there in her pencil skirt and blouse. “You’ve got school today.” Mom said quietly.
I rolled my eyes “I know mom, I didn’t need to get up this early.” I replied looking at the clock that read 6:15 am.
She tsked but backed out my room. Groaning I got up, had a shower then got changed. “Beau get your lazy ass out of bed!” I screamed.
I went into the kitchen pulling out a poptart and putting it in the microwave. Beau stumbled into the kitchen. His hair was a mess and sticking out in different directions.
“It’s early why am I up?”
“Mom came and woke me up, so I decided you should be too. You’re not leaving me with them.” I said picking up the hot poptart. “Ouch.”
Stupid poptart burnt my fingers.
“Make me one.” Beau demanded.
“No.”
“Thanks.” Beau said, snatching the poptart that I just burnt myself on.
I pouted and sat down at the barstool. “I won’t have breakfast then.”
I felt my cell phone buzz in my pocket. I pulled it out my pocket and answered my cell phone. “Hello?”
“Hey, Rose. I am driving you to school today, I have something to show you.” Juno told. “If that’s O.K with Beau that is.” he quickly added.
I covered the mouthpiece and said “Beau, Juno is driving me to school today O.K?” Beau nodded with his mouth full with my poptart.
I let go of the mouthpiece and responded to Juno “Yeah, Beau said its fine.”
“I’ll be there in half an hour, no point being at school early.” Juno concluded, and then hung up.
After hearing, a honk coming from outside, I grabbed my backpack and left. There sat Juno in his Alfa Romeo. I gave a slight wave as Juno lifted his head.
“Hey.” he said, putting his phone back in his pocket.
“Hey, is everything O.K?”
Juno nodded. Pulling away from the curb, I turned the air-con full. “It’s too hot to live.” I whined.
“I know, I got in the car earlier and melted.”
I smiled. I was glad that Juno was speaking more freely- not worrying about what he said. We hadn’t known each other properly before three weeks ago.
Juno used to be hostile and insensitive but now he’s happy and sensitive.
“I can’t wait for the holidays.” I said.
“Me either, means we get to leave this school.” Juno confirmed. “I can’t wait for college.”
“Do you know which college you’re going to too?”
Juno’s eyebrows knitted together “The University of Florida in Gainesville is the top one for me.”
“What do you wanna do then?” I inquired.
“Be a professional football player. It may be every boys dream but I always loved it. Moreover, the last memory of my dad was at a football match. It makes me work harder to get there.”
