January, 2004

She was born on a Monday.

Matilda Matthews, my baby sister.

I walked hand in hand with Lauren into the hospital room.

There was mum laid on the bed, her face exhausted, cheeks red and hair stuck to her face from sweat. There laying on her chest was a baby. A baby!

"Oh my god," I whispered. I walked closer and leaned on the bed. "She's so tiny."

Her cheeks were puffy and her lips were pursed in the most perfect way. She had loads of gunk on the top of her head mixed with blood but my God, she was phenomenal.

"Meet Matilda," mum whispered.

"Matilda," I repeated. "That was the name I suggested." Mum smiled at me lovingly, nodding and stroking the small baby's head.

Back when George and I were on better terms we were at my house one afternoon after school 'doing homework'.

Instead of that though we had been kissing lots and in between that we were coming up with baby names for my future sibling. Mum had given me and Lauren the task of coming up with some names, for both boys and girls and I was taking it very seriously.

"What about Harry for a boy?" George asked, popping a red vine into his mouth, his favourite.

"What coz you love Harry Potter G? Come on, I'm not having a baby brother named after a wizard," I scoffed. "Besides I don't really like Harry Potter all that much."

George laughed and called me weird. He offered me a red vine.

"Nah, I hate them too. Prefer red liquorice actually."

"Well I think Harry is a cool name. Harry Matthews, it has a ring to it."

"Nah. Next," I demanded, scribbling my name messily in the notebook on my lap.  "I need to have a really cool signature for when I'm older," I pondered aloud.

"What in case your famous?" He said teasing.

I shrugged. "You never know G, any of us could be famous. Even you." I poked him in the stomach playfully.

"Yeah I'll be a famous drummer and you'll have my picture on your wall and kiss it every night before you go to sleep." He laughed.

I rolled my eyes. "Please George, as if."

He just laughed and threw a red vine at my face.

"What about Chloe?"

I thought for a second. Chloe. I love that name. I used to have a doll called Chloe but I lost her years ago. "I love that name."

"Chloe Matthews." George spoke aloud.

Chloe.

"I think I like it too much. Maybe I'll keep it for my future child." I told him.

We were shoulder to shoulder against the headboard of George's bed. He turned his head, looking at me. "It's a good name, aye?"

"Yeah, I like it loads."
