After the big guy, or Kurt left, Enna came up to Zeffra and I.
"Hey are you guys alright? Sorry about that...well for everything that's happened within the last twelve hours."
She had dark brown hair pulled into a braid, dark blue-green eyes, light skin, and a splash of freckles across her nose. Not to mention her perfectly curved body. In all honesty? She was hot.
"Well...? Are you going to say something or are you just going I sit there and stare at me?"
Apparently I had been staring at her a bit too long.
"Oh uh...yeah it's cool." Idiot.
"Right, and what about you Zeffra?" she turned to my sister probably looking for a better response.
"I just wanted to thank you, I don't know what we did that made you stand up for us. Thanks Enna."
Enna smiled proudly. "Oh well I just don't like to see honest people get hurt."
There was a moment of awkward silence.
"Well I guess you guys might want some breakfast. I'll be back in ten minutes," Enna informed, breaking the silence.
"Thanks, can I have two eggs over easy, three pieces of bacon and a waffle?" I asked, figuring that sounded like a pretty good meal.
"You're getting oatmeal and water. I may have risked myself for you but that doesn't mean you get special treatment." With that she walked out and shut the door.
I turned to Zeffra,"sheesh I guess eggs don't come cheap here."
She rolled her eyes.
"We were prisoners five minutes ago. you could be a little grateful, besides I like oatmeal."
"They could've at least untied our hands an feet from the chair..." My sister had a point but who could blame me for wanting to be a little comfortable?
That girl though....boy she was pretty...and straightforward. I didn't quite know what to think of her yet.
The door swung open, it was Kurt. He walked over to me and untied the ropes that had previously bound my hands and feet.
"Uh thanks...aren't we supposed to stay in here another night?" I asked slightly confused. "And where's Enna, she left to get us food."
He walked over to Zeffra and untied her.
"Come with me, you'll be eating breakfast in the dining hall. If you two are going to be staying here you might as well start working. Do either of you have any experience with gardening, fighting, or computers?"
"I know a little about plants," Zeffra replied timidly.
"And what about you boy?" Kurt asked me with nod.
"Uh I guess I'm ok at fighting."
I was better than ok. My first fight took place on my fourteenth birthday, my mom had just given me my present, it was a Univity S5,000. The gift was all I would talk about since I was eleven, it was a small holoscreen that could be carried around on your wrist like a watch. What did it do? You spoke a command into the top of the gadget like 'get me pizza' and a holographic pizza would appear in midair, but that's not all. You could actually reach out and it would become a real piece of pizza.
Of course that was the coolest thing to me as a kid, I went everywhere with it until I bumped into Kadar. He was the neighborhood bully and was known for taking other kids' things. Kadar ripped the Univity S5,000 off my wrist and wiggled it above my head.
"Give it back!" I yelled.
"Give me thirty bucks and I will dipwad!"
"No way give it back! Dude it's my birthday!"
"Aww how cute, how old are you, eight? He laughed cruelly.
I had been relatively short and scrawny as a kid and a young teen.
"If you don't give it back I'm going to have to make you." I growled.
"Oh please what are you gonna do? Call your mommy?"
I didn't call my mommy. I jumped on Kadars back and rapped my arms around his neck.
"Dude what the hell are you- *cough, cough*"
He began gasping for air and stumbling. I thought I had won when he banged me up against a wall and knocked me off his back.
"You shouldn't have done that punk!"
He punched me in the jaw making me back up. Then swung again and hit my right eye. The third time, he aimed for throat, I narrowly dodged it and kicked him in the balls.
Kadar crouched down and started tearing up. I took the opportunity and kicked him on the side of his ribs, causing him to fall over. I kicked him over and over again until his mother walked over and yanked my away from her son.
"What do you think your doing to my son?! What did he do to you!?"
"He took my present..." I said sheepishly. It felt like a stupid reason when I said it but I never forgot how great it felt to cause someone pain.
I was officially labeled a violent child.
Happy Birthday to me.
