"Hey Tallen, how was your time-out?" I elbowed him playfully.
"Very funny Zeffra but trust me it wasn't a blast." He glared at his stew obviously a bit bitter and well...pissed.
"What exactly did you have to do anyway?"
He shuddered, "trust me you don't want to know."Click walked over to our table, I guess he has the same break time today.
"Hey Zeffra. Who's this?" He asked, one eyebrow raised."Oh yeah, uh Tallen, this is Click. Click, this is Tallen."
Tallen snorted. "Click? What the hell were your parents thinking when they named you?"
"Well 'Tallen', I'll have you know that 'Click' isn't my real name; it's actually Shawn."
"Then why did you address yourself as Click? Is that like some weird nickname?"
Click rolled his eyes, "Yes, it's a nickname. A lot of my friends just started calling me that one year and it just sort of stuck. But what about you, did your parents want a bird or something?"I decided now would be a good time to cut in before anything got too messy.
"Alrighty well we better start cleaning up and get to our next shift..." I suggested hesitantly.
"Whatever, I'm going hunting." And with that Tallen stormed off leaving his tray behind."Yeesh what's his problem?" Click asked glaring in Tallen's direction.
"I don't know he's just been a bit grumpy since his punishment. Don't take it personally..." I was actually kind of embarrassed of Tallen in that moment but he was still my brother and I had to stand up for him.
"Well now that he's gone. What's next on your schedule?"I felt my cheeks get warm. What the heck is wrong with me I don't even know this guy!
"I uh have gardening next...what about you?" I asked already losing my cool. I rested my head in my hand and tried to listen without drooling.
"Well unfortunately I have hunting with your brother."
"Hey, he may have seemed a bit...moody but he's a good guy, you just have to get to know him."
"I'm sure your right," he said resting head on his hand as well. "I'm sorry if I made you upset."Well that was sweet.
"No it's fine. I just don't want people to judge him too quickly."
"Understood Miss Winlace. I will try befriend this brother of yours." He said standing up and giving me a salute.
He took our trays and left, whistling an unfamiliar tune.Boy was he something...
