THE LAST PART...

The next day after Shuvro got up and moved to a general room, allowing Tuli to see him the doctor said her to talk to him. "Though you must not mention anything about your... Um... The baby." The doctor paused to look into her eyes offering compassion. With the news of seeing him, her heart was throbbing at her mouth and now as she realised the fact that she had to inform Shuvro about the child everything inside her just turned quiet. "He cannot talk right now, but he will soon. Just you need to be calm... Don't overreact... " the doctor continued telling her but not one thing fall into her ears.
Gingerly she walked into his room and saw Ratul blabbering something to him and Shuvro grinning at him. Tuli's mother had visited the kalighat temple this morning to offer her worship to the deity. She touched the flower of the grace on Shuvro's head and chest. Hanging his head a little Shuvro took that.
Standing at the doorstep looking at the scenario, cries of years welled up inside Tuli's chest. Biting her lips she tried to suppress that but ignoring that studiously drops or limpid kept showering down her eyes. Quickly moving from there she hid behind the concrete wall from where no one could see her. Leaning her back on the wall she sat down having all the emotions of shattered out.
Why was she crying? Should not she be happy? Anyone could ask.
But the welling up emotion had no barrage. She felt the house of her that was so insecure, bare and vulnerable had survived a war and a storm of a tornado. Like a mariner who had lost his ship amidst of a sea, after swimming day and night, finding shore he cried getting a harbour yet fearing and not believing what he went through - the whole calamity that now seemed like a nightmare to him - cries came out of Tuli.
She realised how exhausted she had become fighting her fate who kept examining her patience like the toy she was. Looking up she could not see anything but the white ceiling. Yet looking at that her hands on the floor scratching it formed two fists. Her nose flared up and jaw tightly clenched as she kept glaring at the ceiling through the tears oozing out of her eyes. As if she was warning someone invisible sitting above. She was challenging someone.
'Enough!!!' She growled inwardly grinding her teeth. 'Enough!'
10 years! 10 years of her life was snatched away from her, she was not ready to lose anything else. And Shuvro? She would not let anything happen to him as long as she was alive. He was hers. Even the death had no power to snatch him away from her. He would need to go through her to even occur a scratch on him. A simple immortal was threatening the omnipotent! Maybe sitting furtively God had laughed at the powerless woman or did he felt threatened indeed? Who could tell!

Wiping her tears when Tuli entered Shuvro's cabin Ratul had already left. Her mother sitting beside Shuvro was watching him as the nurse was helping him with the food. Shuvro with trembling hands was trying to grab the spoon.
Looking at the scene a knife got stabbed in her chest. She remembered the day she refused to have food and Shuvro kept insisting until she did. The man who didn't stop until she had food now was not able to raise his hand holding a spoon till his mouth.
Shuvro's eyes caught Tuli's figure standing near the door and raising his eyebrows he looked at her. As her gaze fell on him, quickly she bent her mouth to adopt a smile. She approached him. Tuli's mother walked to her and touched the flower on Tuli's head too and gave her a sweet of the grace. Taking that asked her mother to go home and get some rest as none of them had rested in what seemed a while now. All this while Shuvro's eyes refused to leave Tuli. The nurse nagged him to have the food but stubbornly he kept looking at his wife.

"Why are you not finishing the food?" TulI asked raising her eyebrows at him. She looked at the nurse's frown of irritation and then looked back at her husband again. His blank dark black eyes hovered over Tuli's figure and face intently and finally stayed on the bandage around her shoulder and her hand. As if with his planting his affixed gaze inside he wanted to know how she was and as if hearing his unuttered answer she said "I am fine." And stood beside him. Touching her hand on his hand boring her eyes into his, she explained "its just a bandage." Shuvro opened his mouth but words hardly came out of his mouth. "I am completely fine and you need to eat." Saying Tuli's hands raised to take the spoon from the nurse and held it in front of Shuvro. With trembling and feeble mouth he took the hospital food from her hand and gulping it made a face. Smiling the nurse went out to visit another patient. "How are you feeling?" She asked and again he opened his mouth only to fail to utter anything. He felt he had already forgotten what his voice was like and being unable to speak up started agitated him. Frustration increased the fall of his breathing. Quickly she grabbed his hand to make him calm. "Its fine! It's fine! I know." She yelped.
"I- " feebly he breathed out and looked at her with feckless eyes.
The tears that she was holding back suddenly gathered around her eyes. Fighting them back with all her power she looked at him "I know. I know." Her able hand rubbed onto his hand and took his hand in her "you have come back to me. You will be fine. Soon. I promise." She smiled. Believing in her words a smiled infected on his mouth too.
As he ate having her beside him, she started chatting on various subjects but avoided the details of the accident and its consequences just as the doctor had said. Shuvro's week laughter rang meekly as he laughed. Tuli with unwinking gaze witnessed that scene. She heaved a sigh as she consumed the scene to believe that indeed he was in front of her laughing, being alive.
'I was so afraid Shuvro!' Looking at him continuously, she kept telling him, touching his hand - making herself believing in him.

Gradually Shuvro started recovering. Tuli got discharged from the hospital after some days. The fracture of her shoulder was yet to heal and Shuvro started to be able to talk,  this topic was the one he seemed to be interested. His constant asking if she was in pain or not? Whether she was taking care of it or not - made Tuli want to throw her hands up and uproot his hair.
"You were the one in the coma. Shouldn't you be the one answering these questions?" She hlarer him.
"I agree!" Came Arun's voice as he finished the pudding Abir had brought.
"Abir had brought those for Shuvro, you moron!" Ratul growled looking at Arun finishing one of the plates of the pudding and Arun signed at that.
"And what the hymn are you singing?" He danced his eyebrows.
"Oh from where did you gather these jokers." Irritation broke into Tuli's voice looking at the two and saved the rest of the pudding with a warning glare. "These are Shuvro's. Shoo!"
"Uh! Why are you getting angry?" Her husband tried to object weakly.
But Arun interrupted him saying "uh again that saviour Tuli!" He made a face and started mimicking her. "'Oh don't pick on Shuvro!' ' Hey don't talk to him like that! ' 'Hey let him be!' 'Oh you will have it from me if you harm Shuvo..." His act couldn't meet end as a crumbled paper cup with all of Tuli's force attacked his face.
The scene cracked up the boys. With a warm and scarlet face and ballooned up frowning fact Tuli hissed "fuck off you two!"
While laughing Shuvro looked at her wife's red face. The urge of dragging her in his arm and kiss her made butterflies dance in his stomach.
Though sitting amidst all Tuli's heart kept pounding rapidly. Every moment without his not knowing about the miscarriage was haunting her everywhere. Every moment of the day she was thinking about how to break this news to him and when would it be the right time!
But the doctor kept telling yet not to and more than that the gynaecologist had shared a fear of complication in her being able to conceive again. She wanted to share everything with her. But she would wait. Just to share her fear she could never harm the man she loved the most. Yes! She loved him so so very much! She loved him indeed but she was so afraid of telling it out loud since she realised it months ago. The fear of being it snatched away kept her from recognising it, from grabbing it with all her might. But now she was nowhere around to risk it ever.

A few weeks later Shuvro returned home and some days later got rid of the wheelchair. But until then Tuli's nursing strategies started making him wanting to run away. One day riled up by it he started venting some complaints to Chayadi how Tuli was just taking the revenge of him taking care of her before. "But I did it cause I loved her. And she needed to be taken care of! And now forgetting her own life she is running behind me with first aid box... Eh!" And then made a face as he put a spoonful of chicken stew in his mouth. "What is this!" He looked up at Chaya to witness her glaring at him.
"Stew!"
"There is no salt in it! It's smelling!"
"Stop complaining Shuvro! And stop complaining about Tuli!" Chaya growled putting the salt shaker in front of him with a thud. "You don't even know how much worried the girl was for you. She kept telling me 'Chayadi I won't be able to live if something happens to him!' And you are blaming her! Do you realise how much she loves you? Do you realise how fortunate you are? You men don't even know things and behave like this big you are..." The woman kept rambling and with a wide mouth, Shuvro kept looking at her.

"Chayadi said you love me and you won't be able to live without me?" Shuvro asked her as Tuli was rubbing the night cream on her hand. He hugged her from behind and put his chin on her shoulder.
Taking a look of his face she quipped "Wow! Did she?"
"You didn't tell me!"
"What?"
"That you love me! Do you really love me Tuli? Huh?"
"Nope."
"Tell me you love me!"
"Shuvro stop annoying me. Did you take the medicine?"
"No, tell me first."
"I don't know how a man coming just out of comma can be this stubborn."
"Yes. I was into comma so tell me you love me or I shall go back in there..."
The reply instantly earned a slap from her brush and then again. "Oh really?" With flaring eyes, she turned around. "Giye dekha! Do that! You swine! You have no care of my emotion! Do that, you moron!" Like sudden rain tears kept running down off her eyes.
"Ei! Ei! Why are you crying? I am sorry!" Shuvro pressed her on his chest wrapping his hand around her tightly.
"You don't know?" Her ruffled voice cried in his chest. "You don't know anything! You just keep telling stupid things! You moron!"
"Okay, I am sorry Tuli! I will never go anywhere! Stop crying!"
"I will kill you if you do. I swear and Ratul will help me!" Her words made him chuckle. Weakly her hand forming a fist punched lightly on his chest. "Moron!"
"This moron loves you kintu!" He chuckled and leaned over her to kiss his lovely wife's lips so that she would look up at him with shyness in her eyes and the usual warm and scarlet face of hers...
