Maybe it's the energy drink wearing off, or maybe it's the fact that I kissed Alex. Whatever the reason, when I get home, I practically collapse onto the couch.

I enter this strange sleeping state where I can still hear everything going on around me, but I can't move or do anything. I can hear my mother moving around in the kitchen, trying to get back into the groove of cooking, when the doorbell rings. I can hear her heels click across the floor as she answers it, and I can hear Alex's voice as he speaks to her.

"Hello, dear, who might you be?" My mother's voice is overly sweet, as she usually is with strangers.

"Hello, ma'am, I'm Alex, a friend of Austin's. I'd like to talk to him if he's here." Alex's voice is very polite and gentle. He's talented. It takes a lot to be popular with people your own age as well as adults.

"He's in the living room." I can hear the door open wider and Alex's slightly heavier footsteps enter the house.

He walks around the couch, and his steps stop right in front of me. I can feel his eyes on me, but I refuse to wake up. I want to see what he does. I'm curious, so sue me.

He sits beside me, and I feel his hand gently brush a few stray hairs away from my face. That's such a cliche thing to do, but I can tell you that it does indeed work. I'm pretty much putty in his hands right now. His lips press softly to my forehead. Then, he kisses my cheek, and then he kisses my nose. I feel a tired smile grace my lips, and I hear him give a soft chuckle.

"You have no right to be as adorable as you are," he mutters quietly, dragging his thumb along my bottom lip gently.

Okay, I really want to kiss him now. Ending the charade, I pretend to let my eyes flutter open and be surprised that he's here.

"Hi," I say stupidly.

He looks puzzled, so I sit up fully and look at him. "What did that kiss mean?" He looks at me and bites his lip.

I sigh. "It means that I like you, you damned idiot." I glare at my lap, trying to fight the blush staining my cheeks.

I glance up to him nervously and see him looking down at me wide eyed. I expect him to either yell, kiss me, or kindly tell me that he doesn't feel the same. I don't expect him to faint, but that's exactly what he does. He falls to my living room floor with a loud thud that draws my mother in. She looks between the two of us and gives me a questioning look.

"I told him I liked him, and he fainted." I look to him, utterly bewildered before turning back to my mom.

She looks at him, thinking about something.

"Dinner for three, then?"
