Chapter 11: I Want One

To tell the truth, I've never thought about showing my arm to someone, other than that one girl. I didn't think it was important. I didn't even think I'd ever show anyone my arm at all, but Alex changed that. 

He's smart, funny, sweet, and honest. He's the whole package, and I'm so lucky. I don't think I deserve him, but I'm definitely not going to let him go. 

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Alex asks, running a hand along my arm lovingly.

I nod with determination. "I'm ready. I wanna do it." He smiles at me and gives me a loving kiss.

"Okay," he says gently. I take a deep breath as he opens it and brace myself.

WIthin seconds, I'm being pounded into. 

"Whoa, guys, calm down!" I shout to the kids swarming around my legs. They're all shouting at me to be picked up, and they barely even notice the arm. I can't help but laugh a little at them. Leave it to kids to make you feel like you fit in. I decided to start with showing the kids at the hospital my arm. It seemed like a good idea. I'm trying to come out of my shell, and this seemed like the best place to start. I'm finally putting the mask down.

"Austin!" the little redhead from the other day calls out to me. I grin at her and scoop her up in my arms, letting the other kids try to crawl up my legs. "You look like a warrior prince," she whispers with a giggle. 

I glance down to my arm, which is nearly completely revealed in my loose short sleeve T-shirt. "Why thank you, my lady," I tell her, bowing my head. She's wearing a pair of pink shorts and pink flats. She looks so cute!

I put her down and immediately get bombarded by the other children. "You guys want to meet a very good friend of mine?"

Cheers erupt from the small crowd. "Who is it, Mr. Austin?" one of them says. I grin and turn to the doorway, where Alex stands. 

I beckon him over, and he nervously obeys. The kids watch him in awe. I can't blame them, though, he's insanely attractive. I can hear them "ooh" and "ah" at Alex as he makes his way over, the blush on his cheeks unmistakable. He comes to stand next to me, wrapping an arm around my waist.

"This is my boyfriend, Alex."  He smiles nervously at the children, scared that they won't like him.

"Cool!" one of the boys yells before grabbing the boy next to him and kissing him smack on the lips.

They all start laughing and swarming around Alex, asking to be picked up or played with. I watch him try to pick all of them up, not being able to decide between them. Three of them try to climb onto his back, and all he can do is laugh.

"You picked a good one," Sadie, one of the nurses who worked on giving me my arm, comments quietly.

I chuckle a little at that and glance at her. "I'm just glad he settled for me." I let a dreamy sigh tumble from my lips as Alex smiles up at me before being pulled back down to the kids.

"Oh, don't sell yourself short," she mutters, gently hitting my shoulder fondly.

I smile and chuckle a little. "He said the same thing."

"He's a smart one," she murmurs, giving me a pointed look before anouncing that it's lunch time.

They all immediately follow after her and leave Alex on the floor with a grin on his face. "They're a handful." He smiles up at me. "I want one."

I laugh loudly at that. "Can you wait until we graduate highschool?"

He comes up to me, brushing himself off. "Is that you promising we'll have kids someday?" He raises an eyebrow, making me smirk.

"Maybe," I tease, shrugging at him. 

He grins and pecks my lips with a smile. "You're amazing." He kisses below my ear and hugs me. "Now let's head home, my brave little alien."
