Dedicated to Kennadi, because she was one of my inspirations for Janie. :P
"I don't know about this, Alex."
"You'll do fine. Come on." He grabs my wrist gently and leads me to the front door. He walks in ahead of me, gesturing for me to follow.
"What if they don't like me?" I ask nervously, tugging on his arm.
He looks at me with a gentle smile, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "They'll love you." He cups my face again and smiles at me reassuringly.
I swallow thickly and nod shakily. I can feel my nerves starting to get the best of me.
"Mom! Dad! You guys home?" He practically screams out to the house, and, a few seconds later, footsteps can be heard, coming closer.
"Honey, what is it?" a woman's voice says before a beautiful blonde lady enters the room. She's wearing jeans and a red T-shirt. She looks like an average, pretty soccer mom. A man enters the room behind her. He's slender and tall with the same shaggy hair as Alex, and they both have gorgeous light brown eyes.
I'm hidden behind Alex and a wall, so they haven't seen me yet.
"You guys both know that guy I've been talking about?" I raise an eyebrow at that but remain silent. "Well, we're finally dating!" He grins widely.
"Oh, honey, I'm so happy for you!" His mother squeals loudly, reminding me of those rabid girls that love gay guys.
"Do I need to give this boy 'the talk'?" His father asks gruffly.
Alex scoffs. "You haven't seen him. He's like the girl in our relationship." I have to physically restrain myself in order to not hit him.
"When do we get to meet him?" Mrs. Saunders asks excitedly.
"Right now." I barely have time to register what he just said before he pulls me out of my small hiding spot.
The three of us all stare at each other in confusion, meanwhile Alex giggles away like a maniac. He planned this.
I clear my throat awkwardly. "H-Hello," I greet, feeling a blush stain my cheeks. This is so uncomfortable.
There's a few more minutes of silence before his mother erupts into another set of squeals. "He's so cute!" she practically screams before running up to me and pinching my cheeks, fussing over me as if I were a newborn baby. "What's your name, dear?" She bites her lip to try and stop her grin from bleeding through, but she fails. She's obviously too excited about this.
"A-Austin, ma'am." I swallow thickly, feeling extremely shy. That's what I usually am, though. I don't like attention. The mask I put on was the one who liked it.
She looks at me like I'm an adorable little puppy. "You are so adorable!"
"Thank you?" I give her a weak and embarrassed little smile that seemse to make her melt.
"Keep this one!" she shouts at Alex, who is watching this entire thing with a smug smirk.
"I plan to," he says simply, looking me straight in the eye. I flush heavily and look down at the floor. That was so cheesy, yet it makes me feel so tingly inside. It's not fair.
"So, this is the boy you've practically been obsessed with." His father looks me up and down with a smirk.
I glance over to Alex and raise an eyebrow. "Obessed with?" He flushes and glares at his father, who only chuckles.
"He'd never shut up about you." His dad laughs loudly, and Alex elbows him.
"I think I know who should shut up right about now," he growls out, only succeeding in making his dad laugh even harder.
