Dedicated to cakeandpasta because they are hella nice and give off this kind vibe sorta deal. Lol.
"Will you just come out here, already? I bet you look fine."
I take a shaky breath. Alex convinced me to go swimming in the pool with him, but I'm having second thoughts about it. Being shirtless is one thing. This is practically being in my boxers! I peek out from behind my hiding spot, the corner to his backyard.
He's standing there, seemingly glowing in the light of the setting sun. "What's wrong?" he asks, noticing my expression.
"I'm kinda shy," I admit with an embarrassed smile, feeling my cheeks heat up.
He smiles gently. "Don't be. You're beautiful."
"I'm not a girl, Alex," I say with a scowl.
He laughs loudly at that. "Believe me, I know that." My cheeks heat up even more, and I bite my lip.
"Okay," I say slowly, stepping cautiously out of my spot. His gaze travels over my body quickly as he lowers his jaw. I swallow uncomfortably. "Can you close your mouth, please?"
He clamps it shut and blushes heavily. "You look, uh, wow, you look good." He swallows and bites his lip, scratching the back of his neck shyly.
I smile a little and slowly walk over to him, and he immediately wraps his arms around me, pulling me closer. We share a slow, simple kiss before pulling away.
"Is your arm waterproof?" he asks, studying the metal contraption.
I nod. "How do you think I bathe?" I chuckle at him, grabbing his hand and leading him towards the glistening water. He flips a switch on the wall, turning on the lights in the pool.
The water feels great against my skin, caressing my heated body gently. Alex stays quiet while I paddle through the water, sliding beneath surface and pushing myself forward. Taking a breath while surfacing in the deep end, I swim back over to Alex in the shallow end. I surface and run my hand through my hair, pushing it away from my face.
"You look good in the water. It suits you." He looks at me with a small smile.
I grin at him. "I think I'd look better if there were someone with me," I tease, grabbing his hand and pulling him close.
He grins. "You can be smooth as hell, you know that?"
"How smooth?"
"Like creamy peanut butter."
I laugh so hard that I double over and clutch my stomach. "You totally just killed the mood," I tell him, still laughing.
"Damn." He grins at me and laughs a little, too.
We make laps around the pool, and we even get into a few splash fights along the way. And then, it starts to get dark, the stars coming out. Of course, everyone knows that they're fake, but I don't really care. They're beautiful anyway.
"Austin?" he asks, rubbing my arm gently. We decided to take a rest on one of the ledges in the pool. He leans against the edge, and I sit in between his legs, resting against his bare chest.
"Hmm?" I look up at him, but he's staring at my arm.
"If you don't mind my asking, how did you get this?" He taps the metal twice, making a loud clinking sound.
I hold back a sigh. I knew this would come up sometime, and I'm actually thankful. I think it's time I stop running for what happened in the past, as screwed up as it is.
"It's gonna sound weird," I warn, exhaling heavily.
"Okay," he says slowly, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"My dad was teaching me how to drive," I start. "We were on this dirt road that's hardly ever used." I swallow and shake my head, feeling the memories come back, so I push them down and continue. "It was fast. Really fast. This car just slammed into us." I slap my hand, mimicking what happened to the car. "I remember thinking that it was so weird. We were on the right side of the road, and the other car hit our car on the right side." I chew my lip and sigh. "Then, I did some digging. It turns out that my dad had cheated on my mom and got an STD. He would've died anyway, so he hired someone to crash into us and kill him. He didn't want to give it to my mom, and he didn't want her to find out either. He just didn't count on some of the shrapnel severing my arm so badly that they had to amputate it." I sigh and look up to the stars. "Every time I remember it, I can't help but cringe at how screwed up my own father was."
There's a long pause between the two of us before Alex sighs. "You're right, that is weird." He exhales. "But, I think you're stronger for it."
I look up at him, smiling at him. He kisses my temple supportively, and I blush. "Why me?" I ask, completely bewildered.
He shrugs. "At first, it was the blue hair," he admits. "Then, it slowly became everything else." I blush heavily and interlock our fingers. "How am I doing?" he asks with a mischievous grin.
I laugh and let my head fall back onto his shoulder. "Really good," I tell him, looking up at him with a smile.
He smiles before leaning towards me and capturing my lips in a kiss. It's heated and passionate, and way better than that last one. His warm, wet hands drag along my chest, feeling my skin. His lips caress mine skillfully, and I let a small moan escape. He smiles into the kiss before slipping his tongue into my mouth, twirling the wet muscle around my own. I moan loudly as he kisses me roughly, groping at my skin. I can feel my body growing hotter, and I turn around, straddling his lap as we kiss.
We break away, but continue pecking each other with a powerful need. "Why are you so good at this?" I ask breathlessly as he gently kisses my shoulder.
"I don't know. You're the first person I've ever done anything with." He shrugs as if that isn't a big deal.
I gape at him. "You've never done anything either?" I ask him, utterly bewildered.
He shakes his head. "Is that so hard to believe?"
I nod enthusiastically. "Yes! You're talented at it, and extremely attractive! How can you have never done anything?" I stare at him in awe.
"I was waiting for the right guy," he admits, blushing heavily. Oh my God, that is the sweetest thing I've ever seen.
Overtaken by a powerful aching in my chest, I slam my lips into his, catching him off guard. I practically pin him beneath me as I passionately kiss him. I love him so much. Wait. Love? I love him? Oh my God, I love him. The thought causes tears to appear in my eyes. Pulling away, I practically sob into his shoulder.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he asks, sounding worried.
I smile as tears dribble down my face. "Nothing's wrong. I just realized something."
He gives me a questioning look. "What?"
"I love you, Alex."
