I tilted my head. "Hybrids? I'm sorry, I don't quite get it." I said confused. Feen sighed, stretching out his wings. "That is what I need to explain. Most of us are from a lab that genetically modified us as weapons. The other part is either natural born or aren't hybrids at all." He explained. I could tell he saw my face strunch up in confusion.
He sighed. "That's most of our back story. The simple way to put it, is that we were forcefully and illegally experimented on." He explained. I looked away, gulping. "I-I am so sorry to hear that." I muttered, keeping my head down. He exhaled, a soft smile played with his lips. It's the most peaceful I've seen him. "Don't be. We lived through it, and if it weren't for that our lives would be a lot different. And I don't want to change a thing." He grinned. I relaxed against the back of my bed, staring at him.
"So, if the majority of you are hybrids, what are the others? Also what are Natural Borns?" I asked, curious to who I was to be sharing a house with. He smiled again, seeming a lot more relaxed than earlier. I like this side of him. It was way better than having a screaming match with him. "Let me answer one question at a time." He chuckled. He folded him wings again and laid his tail over his lap.
"First off, Natural Borns... They were born with hybrid powers but aren't always half animal. They are very strong and are usually kids of two genetically modified hybrids." He explained. I blinked, most of that information going way over my head. He laughed. "you'll get it eventually. As far as the others, they range from human to demons." He explained nonchlantly.
I blinked again, my eyes going wide. "D-Demons?" I stuttered, stressing out a bit. He nodded. "Don't worry, they aren't what you think. They're friendly for the most part." He explained quickly. I sighed out my relief, a bit less stressed. He grinned. "I said I was saving you, not putting you in danger idiot." He teased. I laugh nervously before turning serious.
"Okay, my next question is what exactly are you saving me from?" I asked, crossing my arms. "You better have a good reason for kidnapping me." I growled. My joke flew right over his head as he started methodically playing with the fluffy end of his tail. "That's a bit harder to explain." He muttered, glaring at his tail. I studied him. Did he not want me to ask that question? Oh well, it doesn't matter. I need answers, even if it makes him uncomfortable.
He sighed shakily. "So, I guess you could say it's a group. We call them Shades, just because they stay to the shadows. Well, they want you for some reason. They want you badly." He explained. He sighed again, as if trying to relax his tense shoulders. "These people... They aren't to be messed with. One of us, a hybrid, went to go scout them out. He was found dead at the entrance to our town." He muttered, glaring at his tail more intensely. I sighed. I could tell he blamed himself for it, but I said nothing. What could I say? I didn't even know the hybrid who was killed, and I don't know who died.
We sat there in awkward silence for a few moments, Feen was shifting uncomfortably in his position at the foot of my bed. I sighed. "I'm sorry to hear that. What was his name?" I asked softly. Feen looked away, hiding his face. "Zach. His name was Zach." He whispered, his voice breaking in it's quiet tone. I gulped. Wrong question. "I'm... I..." I started, but couldn't form the right words. Feen sighed, wiping his face and turning to me. "Okay, any other questions?" He asked softly.
I nod. "Where exactly are we?" I asked. He nods back. "I thought you'd ask that. Right now we're in a house." He grins. I laughed, the tension seemed to slip away. "Thanks genius. You know what I mean." I teased him. He laughed. "Well, your in mine and my sister's house right now. Which is in a town called Zanian." He explained. I grinned. "Zanian. What a peculiar name." I commented, unfolding my arms.
He chuckled. "We're an unusual town. I'm sure you've realized this by now." He laughed. It seems like all traces of mourning was removed from the room. I smiled softly. "Yeah, I haven't exactly seen a lot of hybrids in my life." I joked. His grin faultered for a second before being plastered back on. It was only for a split second, but I saw his surprise. He nods. "We aren't exactly common." He chuckled.
Feen got up, taking my tray and his. "I promise you can come out of this room in a second and show you around the house." He promised and left, closing the door behind him. I sighed. Was I supposed to know about hybrids? It seemed unlikely I would. Why would he suspect I did?
After only a few moments, the man who scared me earlier came in. I already forgot his name and he seemed to recognize it. He smiles shyly and gives me a small wave. "Hello. My name is Owen." He introduced himself, his bright turquoise eyes flashing as he stood there. I giggled. "Hello. I'm Sinister." I said. He blinked. "Sinister? That's a strange name." He thought out loud.
He shook himself from his thoughts, smiling at me. "Anyways, it's nice to meet you. If you'd like, I can show you around town and even my house,. Along with this one." He offered. My eyes light up excitedly. "Yes! That would be awesome!" I exclaimed giddily before realizing something. "But I should probably wait. Feen said he wanted to take me on a tour." I explained. Owen smiled. "I wouldn't trust him easily if I were you. Bit it's up to you which one you'd prefer to take a tour with." He said nonchalantly. I blinked. Not trusting Feen? I sighed. I could probably get more answers if I go with Owen.
I looked up, completely renewed. "Let's go." I exclaimed energetically. He smiled sweetly. "Good choice."
