Echoheart's pelt was matted and dirty, she felt skinny and couldn't remember the last time she had eaten something other than dirty rats in the twolegplace. She slept in a weird, hard den that smelled of crowfood. The only cat she had to accompany her was Graypelt. Her former Clanmate was the only cat who stuck by her, but she felt it wasn't so much because he liked her and more because he was scared to return to AshClan.

Echoheart had no home left in AshClan, without Thornstar she felt like she didn't belong anywhere. She sat up in her filthy "den" and shook off some twoleg scraps. She stepped out, it was still night but she could no longer sleep. She flexed her claws against the cold stone of the twolegplace, itching to do something.

Her stomach growled, but she really didn't have anymore appetite for rats. She looked into the den where Graypelt was still sleeping, letting out a slight groan. Maybe there's something better for me to eat farther in here. She didn't want to explore the twolegplace very much, but she was desperate. Sometimes she would hunt in SunClan territory, but the prey in their back field was little to none and ever since Falconpaw had made an appearance in the twolegplace, Echoheart was sure that SunClan would be patrolling that area now.

Anger filled Echoheart every time she thought Dawnstar and her mouse-brained son. She has a daughter too, I wonder what that little brat is doing. She flicked her tail. She's Dawnstar's daughter, no matter what it is it will be useless.

Shaking away her angered thoughts, Echoheart left her home area and headed deeper in the twolegplace, she hoped since it was late then all the twolegs and their vile dogs were asleep. She didn't really care about running into other cats. I'll show some kittypet what a warrior can do.

Echoheart had been walking for quite a while, avoiding twoleg gardens the best she could as she searched for food. She found nothing, not even a slight scent of prey. How could any cat live in this disgusting place. She flicked her tail.

There was a clang behind Echoheart, she jumped and spun around. Hissing and baring her teeth at whatever had caused it. She flattened her ears as the form of a cat rose from the shadows. "Show yourself." She demanded.

After a moment, a skinny brown tom stepped into the artificial light of the twolegplace. His fur was dirty, there was a chunk missing from one of his ears and he had a small, jagged scar under one of his green eyes. "S-Sorry." The tom apologized, his ear was flattened and his tail tucked between his legs. This pathetic tom is no threat to me. Echoheart thought, dismissing him.

"It's fine." Echoheart growled. "Maybe you should be a bit quieter, there are less nice cats out here than me."

"Right," The tom dropped his head. "You wouldn't happen to have any food, would you?" He questioned desperately.

Echoheart withheld a groan. "Why do you think I'm out here? There's not a lot of in this disgusting twolegplace."

"I know." The tom sighed. "I guessed I never realized how easy I used to have it." He flicked his tail.

"Are you a kittypet?" Echoheart questioned.

"I used to be." The tom replied. "My twolegs threw me out after their stupid little dog attacked me. He flicked his injured ear. "They kept their stupid dog instead of the cat they've had for moons."

"Sorry to hear that," Echoheart replied. Looking over the tom, he was skinny and far from a fighter. He grew up a kittypet, but maybe... "Why don't you come with me? We could find some food together."

"Really?" The tom perked up a little bit. "My name is Tola."

"My name is Echoheart." She dipped her head.
