The Eons: Chapter 3 Book One:

Glass went everywhere and someone screamed. I think it was  me. I saw several young Eons holding battle axes of different shapes and sizes. Ash, Char, Ari, Alec, and Jypsie all pulled weapons out of nothing, or so it seemed. They looked like hardened warriors always ready for battle and grimly I realized that was not me. “Look there is a small back hallway up to our rooms we could go up there and figure something out,” Bane whispered in my ear. Good idea. We snuck upstairs and I was pretty much panicking. I was hurriedly looking around the room when I noticed a book of matches and had either a really brilliant or really stupid plan, but it was a plan.

After explaining my plan and convincing Calypso that it might work we wound our way down stairs with 45 books of matches that we’d collected upstairs. Pyromaniacs much? We really didn’t have time to think about that in all honesty. Ari saw us and it’s like he knew, he just knew what I was talking these two girls into. He said something to Alec, who whispered it to Char, who told Jypsie, who had this crazy look on her face, Ash finally got the truth out of her and then began herding the other teenagers like sheep into the gravel driveway.

Meanwhile the three of us has found and emptied a gas can onto the driveway, and where now expertly hidden on the roof. When we saw all the demonic-looking teens standing on the driveway we let loose with the matches. They all screamed. I watched as their vulture  wings caught fire and they stumbled  into the forest. The eight of us then began the grueling task of putting out the fire.   We were stomping out the last of flames when Alec came behind his sister and dumped ice cold creek water all over her, except he missed and sent about half the bucket all over Ash who picked up a sponge out of the bucket of car-washing supplies and  then proceeded to  throw it at Alec only he hit Bane who threw  a bucket, not full of water just a bucket, at Ash. Ash ducked and it hit Alec. The water war was so on.

We came in when it started to get dark. All of us grabbed towels and dry clothes. We ended up sweeping the kitchen and then switching the doors for the original sliding ones that came with the house.  Then we pretty much went down to the basement and hung out. Everyone else had dispersed and left for a warm bed but Bane, Calypso, and I were still talking. “Hey this room is really hot, let’s get some fresh air,” I said. They looked at me skeptically. “What it’s not like those teenagers are going to come back now,” I said. “True,” Bane replied. We were walking along the tree line talking about our past lives when I heard a painful human moan. I turned to where we’d just walked to see a pallid teenage boy stumbling out of the forest he looked at me with pure black eyes, his black eye-brow length hair was matted with blood. Bane and Calypso turned to see what I had stopped walking for. “I’m going to the house I’ll be right back,” I say as I begin a sort run back to the house.

“Ari wake up,” I said shaking him. “Ok ok I’m up what is so important,” he says rolling over to face me. I pulled the covers off his bed and started dragging him toward the door. “Hold on,” he pulls forcefully out of my grasp. I turn around and blush bright red. I look at myself in his mirror and realize that my button down shirt had been left unbuttoned and had practically fallen off. He finished pulling on a t-shirt and then he said,” What is so important specks?” “We found a guy covered in blood out in the woods,” I say pulling him out his bedroom door and down stairs. He grabs Char who doesn’t bother with a shirt and we head back to the woods. I rejoin the girls not being able to stand the sight of a human so brutally injured.

When we finally got him back to the house Char cleaned his wounds and bandaged him up. He and Ari discussed things for awhile and finally Ari came to join me on the couch. “Where are the other girls?” he asked. “I told them they should get some rest, they’ve had a long day Ari,” I replied. “So why are you still up?” he pulled my hair. I rolled my eyes. “I wanted to be sure he would be ok,” I said. “I think someone is in love,” Ari joked. “Yep totally we are going on a date tomorrow,” I retorted playfully. We both laughed. “I’m glad you woke me up, the kid is an Eon,” Ari said rubbing his eyes. “Who were those kids, you know the ones with the battle axes?” I asked.  “They are Horrors,” he said. “No they can’t be,” I reply, “I’ve never seen Kamenwati use Horrors that young.” Ari smiles sadly. “Things have changed,” he says. “I can tell you one place things need to change is that room of yours it’s disgusting,” I said. He laughs. “I guess I just need more girls in my room,” he smiles. I laugh. “Well if you’re inviting,” I say but I was kidding with him back then. He ruffles my hair and says “ you’re too young.” “I’m 14 you’re 15,” I say opening the door to my own room. “However I really don’t like you like that I’ll see you later Ari,” I was just about to close my door when I hear Ari say,” it’s a shame because you look really great in that tank top.” He laughed and shut his door. I smiled. That was Ari for you. I slept well for the last time that week.
