The Eons Chapter Four Book One: **PG13**

I woke up and put on real clothing.. Stepping out of my room I found both Bane and Calypso talking in the hallway.. “Hey guys,” I say and they look up and smile. “Guess what?” Bane asked. “Jypsie likes that creepy guy Vladmire, the guy we rescued last night,” Calypso said. we all laughed at that.

We found Ash and Ari sitting at the breakfast table. “Hey Ari,” I said taking the seat beside him. Ash raised an eyebrow. “What? I can’t sit beside Ari now okay fine I’ll move,” I said. I switched seats with Bane and we ate and talked about weapons. Bane uses a bow and several very sharp arrows. In contrast to most everyone, Calypso uses a shotgun. “Hey you are getting your lesson from me today,” Ari said. I’d forgotten all about my handicap. “Okay I’ll see you guys later,” I took my plate to the sink and followed Ari outside. Bane looked a bit like Ash when she raised an inquisitive, light brown, eyebrow. “I’ll tell you later,” I said catching up to Ari. “So I suppose you’ve met Mr. Bernoulli?” Ari asked letting his wingspan out. “Yes  that was a bit overwhelming,” I say.  “Okay well I think I’ll try a more hands-on approach to this,” Ari had barely gotten the words out when he lifted the two of us off the ground and flew about 40 ft. into the air. “What are you doing Ari?” I asked. “You’re about to find out,” he replied. I was about to demand to be let down but instead Ari just let me go.

For an instant I was afraid and then I let my wings open up. I was gliding in the air and I began to flap my wings and gain altitude and I was flying. Ari finally caught up to me, “Gee for a pretty girl who can’t fly you sure do know how to fly.” “Ari did you just call me pretty?” I asked. “Is the sky blue?” He looped around and showed off. “Let’s land the lesson is over,” he said. “How?” my simple question.  “Pretend like you’re standing up then flap your wings gently till your feet touch ground,” he demonstrated.  I followed his example and touched lightly onto my beautiful forest floor.

I entered the room with the biggest smile on my face. “How’d she do?” Char asked from the corner. “I told you the hands on approach would work,” Ari grinned stupidly. “Dear God, Ari tell me you didn’t,” he said. “I could but that would be lying,” Ari said. “Well that’s all good and well depending on exactly what you had your hands on Ari,” Bane said coming downstairs followed by Calypso. I had to laugh, these girls had become my best friends in a matter of hours really, and do you know what? I felt like they actually cared. And by the end of  the story you’ll understand as well as I do that they did, and they always will.

“He was teaching me how to fly,” I said. “Oh alright cool,” Bane played it off like it didn’t surprise her there was a human bird creature who couldn’t fly.

We decided it would be nice to take a quick trip down to the shopping strip and just hang out.  Bane was 15 and had her driver's license  so we wouldn’t be breaking any laws. We were walking out to the van when I noticed the back door was partially open. I put one finger to my mouth and we snuck around to the back. Through the crack in the door I saw the most horrific sight that had ever been seen; Jypsie was full on making out with Vladmire in the back of Char’s van.  They were wrapped in strange positions sucking on each other’s tongues. Squishy noises were coming from them and they were all over each other. Vladmire didn’t have a shirt on. He was groping Jypsie’s boobs, she had her hands tangled in Vladmire’s hair and seemed to be enjoying this.  Bane, Calypso, and I ran inside and passed out on the couch laughing.

After 10 minutes of nonstop laughter Ari came downstairs. “What in the name of Daniel Bernoulli is so funny?” He asked looking at my red face. Calypso’s shoulder length, slightly curly, black hair was all over the place. “Jypsie and Vladmire they were........ha............sucking face, Char’s van,” and that was all Calypso got out before the laughter started again and this time Ari joined in falling on the floor in fits of hysterical laughter.

Much later I was braiding Bane’s waist length, thick, wavy, light, brown hair and just talking when Ash just walks right into my room without even bothering to knock. “Can I help you?” I ask not looking up from the gorgeous fish-tail that was Bane’s hair. “We are having a house meeting downstairs so let’s get moving ladies,” he said walking from the room. We meandered down the stairs and take our seats at the kitchen table and guess who’s missing? Yep; Jypsie Xander and Vladmire Something-or-Other.

We were listening to Char express his thoughts on possibly having a team leader when the two love birds walked through the doors. Bane, Calypso, Ari, and I burst out in glorious laughter. Jypsie blushed and ran upstairs. “What were you two up to out there?” Char sat down. “Nothing I swear.” Vlad awkwardly stood there not knowing what to say. “That’s a whole lot of nothing to be standing out there for 5 hours.” Char eyed Alec carefully, Jypsie was his sister after all. Vladmire left the room and we voted on team leader. As if Ash wasn’t egotistical enough he got voted team leader. Lovely.

All in all he made some great changes. We started patrols for food, Horrors, and POH (Prisoners of Horrors). Ari and I were on first patrol after team meeting. Ash seemed reluctant to put us together but what was he so worried about? Ari was a friend. Calypso and Alec had second patrol until dinner, Char, Vladmire, and Jypsie took third patrol, and Bane and Ash took last. The teams were assembled and we began the first patrol.

At first there was an awkward silence as we walked the woods together but we started to talk about, well, everything; our families, friends, wishes, dreams, and then we got to the topic of love and things the heart desires. “So who has caught the eye of the enchanting miss specks?” Ari asked as we rounded the last turn and the house came back into view in the distance. “No one yet. I was hoping  for a guy who is my best friend first and foremost and my boyfriend second,” I said watching his playful yellow-green eyes, “so which lucky girl is on the arm of the tempting Mr. firebird?” “No girl in her right mind would date me,” Ari said.   Which was funny because I found just thinking of him made butterflies swarm my stomach like moths to a light.

I went in after patrol and Ari and I had a serious video game competition until dinner, which I won by the way. As we sat down at the dinner table I could tell there was a tension in the air, and a smell:sulfur
