Clearly this was not the best time to intervene. Izuku quickly wiped the tear from his face while Ochaco never bothered to lift her head from her hands, as she groaned into the table.

"I take it you'd like a few minutes more to decide on your orders?" said the young man, clearly taking too much pleasure in their discomfort.

Stupid waiter, Ochaco thought, stop looking so satisfied. This whole mess was his fault to begin with! Is he trying to ruin my life? She thought, unaware that he'd be attending their wedding.

Right now, however, all Ochaco knew was that she had broken the promise she made to herself. She knew Izuku didn't need this right now, not with everything that's been going on. If that means she couldn't be his friend anymore... so be it.

"Ughhhh... Deku. I'm so sorry. Please forget I said anything. Can't we just pretend that never happened?" She begged.

Izuku didn't want to pretend. He'd been feeling the same way for a long time. He wasn't quite sure what it meant to be in love but he did know that Ochaco was the world to him.

"Sorry for what? You don't have to apologize!" he said.

"But I do! I've been so selfish. After riding on your coattails at the sports festival, I thought I'd learned my lesson! But turns out all I'm doing is holding you back as a classmate... and as a friend." She said, tasting the pain as she spoke.

Izuku paused before breaking out in a fit of giggles. She reminded him of when Todoroki had convinced himself of being "the hand crusher". What's with my friends taking on unnecessary burdens? he thought.

Meanwhile, Ochaco was watching him in confusion. Had she said something funny?

"S-sorry," He managed through laughs, "bu-but you couldn't be more wrong."

"Huh?"

"Listen Uraraka, it's because of people like you, who have supported me, that I'm where I am today," He said, "a year ago, I wouldn't have expected in a million years that I would be as blessed as I am now. To be enrolled in the hero course at UA, getting to training under my idol, meeting you. All these things have changed my life for the better. You say that I saved you on that first day during the exam... well, let's not forget that I would be a human pancake right now if it weren't for you!" he said, smile brighter than the sun.

Ochaco's heart was soaring; he always knew just what to say. It was taking all the willpower she had not to shoot over the table and tackle him into a hug.

"You see? The people I've met, the friendships I've made, they haven't held me back at all. If anything, they've made me stronger. That includes you!"

Ochaco hadn't really given it much thought until now but Izuku was actually a lot more outspoken than he had been when they first met. She liked it.

"So I believe...strengthening those connections," he began, getting a bit shy again, "maybe, making them into something...more? It couldn't possibly be a bad thing...right?"

It was hard, but he managed to hold her gaze until the end. Ochaco lifted her hand to grab his from across the table, causing Izuku to practically jump from his skin, a blush spreading across his entire face. She's holding my hand! she's holding my hand! Be. Cool. Screamed his thoughts.

"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" she asked.

Before he had a chance to answer, the waiter returned once more, purposing a second question.

"Have you two finally figured out what you want?" he asked.

He didn't know where the sudden burst of confidence came from but looking into her eyes, Izuku wanted one thing and no amount of nerves would stop him from getting it.

"Yes... I want... I-I mean if you'd like," he stammered, "I want you to.. if you wouldn't mind being... my girlfriend?"

Ochaco's face lit up, she felt like she could float to the moon...without using her quirk. Who knew the plain looking boy, with messy hair, that she loved so much, could really be hers.

"Yes, Deku! I'd like that very much!'

Both teens felt like they were the only ones in the entire world. If only for just a moment, all their problems seemed to wash away. Because they knew that from now on, whatever they faced, it would be together.

"Uh... that's nice you guys but... I meant to order." said the waiter, snapping them back to reality.

Authors Note:

Alright! Looks like our waiter gets to wrap up another chapter. This one was the shortest but the most difficult one to write so far. After getting so carried away last night I had a hard time figuring out where the story should go from there. I wasn't planning on having a confession this early on but oh well...

P.S Sorry if it's super cheesy and sorry if Deku is out of character. This is hard you guys, I don't know how some people do it.
