Operation Izuocha (Izuku x Ochaco Fic)

Chapter 10: Distraction

This chapter and the last chapter take place simultaneously in the story. Basically, this is what happened during the picnic. 

Here we go.

Ochaco and Izuku hadn't spoken since his quick departure the previous night. If Izuku was being honest with himself, he was avoiding the inevitable awkward conversation that was to come. He wasn't sure how he was planning on explaining himself just yet. 

On the other hand, Ochaco wasn't doing anything to be productive either. Instead, she decided to procrastinate by going out with her friends before Izuku could get back from his morning training. 

Maybe I should ask them whether or not I have the wrong idea, she thought, my friends always give the best advice. 

Ochaco laid down on the chequered blanket Jiro had set out for their group picnic. Staring up at the blue sky always reminded her of how there's a world far beyond the one containing her problems. She liked that.

"Hey, Ochaco!" Mina said, "Move it will ya. We need to lay out the food and you're taking up too much space."

"Ughhhnnnnnhhhh" she groaned, slowly rising to an upright position.

As her perspective adjusted, Ochaco found herself back down on earth.

"Hey, what's all that about? I don't think I've ever seen you this bummed. You've been moping around all morning. What gives?" asked Toru.

Naturally, Ochaco couldn't get her mind off of what happened between her and Izuku the previous night.

Why did he avoid kissing me? She thought. Was it something I did?

"Ochaco?" Toru questioned, poking her on the arm.

"Huh? Oh, well...It's just that... last night something happened between me and Izuku and I can't seem to get my mind off of it. Maybe you guys can help." she said. Her face began to warm up as she anticipated the rest of the conversation. 

"Ugh! FINALLY!" said Mina, with a shriek "we promised Yaomomo that we wouldn't bring it up unless you did but girl... I don't know how much longer I could have held out. Soooooo what happened  between you two last night!? I want details!" 

Ochaco was feeling pretty shy, but at the same time, something inside of her was actually excited to tell her friends. She had never been in a relationship before. To her, it was all sort of thrilling. 

"Ok well," she began, " I think that Deku and I might be... dating... probably?" 

"WHAT?!" the girls shouted in unison, startling the poor Ochaco in the process.

They wouldn't admit this to her face but everyone was a little surprised. They hadn't expected the pair to take things very far on their own.

"No way! Did he confess?" asked Toru.

"Yah... but only because I accidentally let it slip first," said Ochaco, face as pink as her hero costume. 

"You did WHAT?!"

After describing her entire date, down to the last detail (as per requested), Ochaco was finally about to recieve some well needed advice.

"Don't you think that's weird? Why did he just run away like that? Was it something I said? Did I have fish breath? Did he decide he doesn't.... like me anymore?" Ochaco ranted, as the million thoughts she'd built up got released at once.
