“Yes, I'd like to order a Warmed Venti Vanilla Bean Frappe with two shots of Caramel, and could you sprinkle Cinnamon on top, please? Thanks a bunch!

He brought the phone back to his ear.

“Did you hear that?”

“Yes, I heard your treachery.”

“ I'll forgive you of YOUR treachery, if you...say you actually enjoy our calls and go to Starbucks and try the Vanilla Bean Frappe. Then admit that it's better than any Hot Chocolate could ever be.

“Now you've really done it. You've committed a Capital Offence. You've dissed all Hot Chocolate lovers in the world. You little--”

“Hold that thought, my far superior drink order is ready.”

“Far superior my--”

“Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of me getting my delicious coffee.”

“ I hope you get hit by a truck.

“I love you too.”

Avery growled.

“Ooo it has arrived! My gloriously good tasting drink! I'm gonna drink it right now.”

“ Wait! It's going to be hot--”

“AHHHHHHHH! OW MY TONGUE! MY PRECIOUS TONGUE! IT'S BEEN BURNED!”

“ I told you…

“You don't even feel in the least bit sorry for my poor tongue?

“I have no sympathy for criminals.”

“Well then.”

“ I'm just kidd--”

The line went dead.

“Uh. Oh wow okay.”

Avery leaned back in her chair and sighed. This was going to be a long day.

Just as the hands on the clock hit seven, Avery stood up from her chair and stretched out her stiff muscles. It was finally her break time and Avery was glad for it.

Time to drink some nice Hot Chocolate!

Avery weaved her way through the mass of moving bodies and ringing telephones, toward the break room. Once there, she headed straight for the counter where they kept everything she would need.

Avery was just about to reach for the canister of Hot Cocoa mix, when a voice stopped her.

“Do you want this too?”

Avery turned and saw Meira standing in the doorway, holding a Starbucks cup out to her.

“Oh, hey Meira...what's that?”

“ Some guy dropped it off for you a few minutes ago, maybe your boyfriend?”

“Uh I doubt it, but okay I won't turn down a free drink.”

Meira approached and handed her the tumbler.

“Oh yeah, he also said to give you this.”

She reached in her back pocket and pulled out a slip of paper, the receipt.

“Thanks, Meira!”

“ No problem, girl. Now I'm off to work!”

Then she turned and left. Avery set the drink and receipt on the counter and twisted the lid off of the Hot Cocoa can, it was empty.

Avery grunted and replaced the lid. Then she picked up the receipt and unfolded it, noting that it was for a Venti Vanilla Bean Frap with Caramel and Cinnamon.

On the back of the paper was a hand written note. It said, “Hey Raine, Hotline Guy here. I'm sorry for hanging up on you earlier. I hope you can forgive me. As a peace offering, I ask that you please accept this drink from Starbucks, even though you don't like them that much.

From,

Hotline Guy (aka your hubby)

P.s. I'll forgive you for all of your trespasses against me and I'll disregard your completely inferior beverage choices, if you promise not to mention this little kerfuffle next time I call, okay Bae?

Next to this was drawn a small crooked winking face, or at least, that what Avery assumed it was. She looked back and forth between the empty container of Hot Cocoa mix and the steaming to go mug sitting next to it.

She sighed. Avery had wanted Hot Chocolate, but she guessed that Starbucks would have to do for now.
