"downstairs," i mumbled under my breath as i quickly ran down the stairs.
it was really dark, making it hard to make out anything and it was a little hard to breathe as well—probably from the dust or something. i gotta tell daniel later he needs to ventilate this place.
and then i heard a scream nearby.
my heart dropped as soon as i was sure the voice had to belong to guanlin.
what's going on? did something happen?
did something happen to guanlin?
maybe it was a mistake to come downstairs or perhaps it was a mistake to come over to daniel's house from the very start.
i took baby steps towards where the source of noise was and then my eyes finally decided to adjust to the dark.
there i saw guanlin and daniel standing together at the end of the hallway.
"man, you scared me. don't come sneaking up behind me like that, dan," guanlin whined as he whacked daniel's arm.
daniel looked troubled, "sorry, i didn't mean to scare you. i just came to say that this room is off limits for hiding."
"huh? why not? everytime we come over, you never let us in that room. what the hell are you hiding in there?" guanlin pressed his finger against daniel's chest as if he was accusing him of something.
i decided to jump in and went straight to the door, "let's find out what he's been hiding from you guys."
flustered by my sudden action, daniel raised his voice, "hey, wai—"
before he could stop me, i had already turned the handle and opened the door wide for the three of us to see. i flicked on the light switch to see properly.
huh?
"what is this," eyes widened, i turned back to look at daniel.
he sighed before slowly closing the door behind him, "now that you've seen this, i won't let you guys come out of this room alive."
"you know you aren't very funny when you're joking around," guanlin was starting to sound nervous. he was actually starting to believe in the guy's words, but i for one did not.
"give guanlin a break, you've scared him twice already," i stood in between the two boys.
daniel chuckled, but it was a bitter one, "his expression is always priceless i swear.. anyways, i'd like it if you guys didn't tell anyone about this room."
"um why not? i didn't know you dance," my eyes wandered around the room. it was a nicely maintained dancing room, perfect for a professional. mirrors were well polished, but on the other hand, the floor was quite dirty with shoe streaks. a normal person would assume that it's only dirty because he didn't clean it, but to me it proved how much he practiced dancing in this room.
"you should join the dance club," guanlin got all excited with his eyes all sparkly. i guess he just doesn't know how to read the mood.
the smile on daniel's face was not a happy one. it was a pained one as if he'd gone through so many hardships and he was carrying a huge burden all by himself.
it was a short moment of silence before he opened his mouth to speak up, "i used to dance and was in a crew and everything, but not anymore. also, i was in the dance club with seongwoo and woojin, but then i left."
as much as i wanted to ask why he left and everything, we heard voices outside the door.
"quick, hide!" guanlin turned off the lights and we all quickly hid in the corner of the room, behind a chair. we were bold to think that a single chair could hide three people.
"assuming from how loud it is outside, it seems that sungwoon and daehwi already found everyone else," guanlin whispered.
"should we just go out then before they come in and check this room? you probably wouldn't like it if they came inside this room, right?" i took a quick glance at pink haired boy.
"yeah.." he nodded and then we all decided to stand up together in unison and surrender ourselves before they got any closer to the room.
"hey, there you guys are!" daehwi rushed over to us with a beaming smile.
"is this everyone now?" jaehwan asked as he walked behind daehwi with the rest of the group.
"wait no, we're missing one person."
"where's jihoon?"
