I listened to the water lap as Rory slept. They were forcing us together through the mountains. The anthem started blaring through the arena and I looked up to see the deaths for the day. Both from One, Two, and Four, The boy from Five, The girl from Seven, the boy from Ten, the pair from Eleven and Rory and I had made it through the first day. Ten of us left. If they planned on having these games last they'll have some bloodless days. Rory and I should be able to last up here for a while. So many of the people dead were twelve or thirteen. I let that thought occupy my mind as I sat not noticing the water slowly receded from the tree. I kept watching the water until I didn't see it anymore when I roused Rory and pointed to the ground. He nodded and we quickly left our safe haven and started our hunting tread towards the meadow. Quietly and slowly we made our way back to the meadow to try and find anything useful and hopefully our allies. We walked into the moonlit meadow and surveyed the damage. It was untouched by the water and empty. My eyes darted around the meadow and I almost squirmed at the idea of walking into such a well it meadow. I stepped into it and sprinted to the cornucopia. I dug through the pile and grabbed extra arrows, knives, food, and water as well as a sleeping bag, and a tarp. I could hear the woods coming alive with animals again and I once again yearned for the comfort of the woods. Rory tugged me back into the woods and we walked deeper into them. A cannon rang out and we jumped slightly.

"Let's pick a tree." I said softly. Rory nodded and started up a tree with a large fork big enough to sustain both of us. I followed him and put the sleeping bag down and belted us in. I stayed up an arrow always poised to fire just in case. The night passed by uneventfully. The next day dawned clear and bright. I glanced down to find the career pack sleeping beneath our tree and I carefully climbed down. I carefully slit Edward's throat and then scrambled up into the tree laying beside Rory and pretending to be asleep as the cannon rang. It woke up everyone up and thankfully my footsteps were covered by leaves and there was running footsteps heading away from camp. I climbed down and followed the pack as we ran. Rory kept up with us as we tracked down the boy from Ten. Peter eventually got him with one of his spears and another cannon went off. With a little over half of the competition gone as well as their leader the pack would disband soon. I hurried along with them making sure Rory was always by my side. I waited until they stopped and watched the sky. My hands were always tensed on my bow. I stayed awake the night slowly moving into the daytime. I watched the sky and took deep breaths getting up and creeping away to hunt while everyone was asleep. I picked my way through the forest and squat down while I watched for a deer. I sat completely still until I saw the deer and then it didn't have time to react before I had a arrow in its neck and a knife in its head. I glanced up at the sky for a second wishing that Gale were here. I wanted his arms around me and also he always carried the deer to the fence. I slung the deer over my shoulder and headed back to camp.
