I woke up the next morning and opened my laptop to look for any job openings. I saw one for the Starbucks close by but when I called they had informed me that they had filled the opening yesterday. I looked at other places but when I had called they were all full. Just my luck! I grabbed my key to my mail box and went to check for my last paycheck.

"What are you doing here Layla? Don't you have work?" My neighbor and friend, Sarah, said. I smiled to her and locked my door.

"I'm not working there anymore." I said. When I turned to look at her I saw a sad expression on her face.

"I know how hard it is for you to get hired with that accident you had. But I'm sure another place will take you." I smiled to her and she smiled back.

"I know I'll find another place." I saw sadness in her eyes. She must have been thinking about the accident. "I think I'll be going to the library to get a change in scenery and maybe I can get a small job there until I find something else." We said goodbye and I went to my mailbox. I found my last paycheck and I sighed. I didn't bother going back up to my apartment I just got in my car and drove to the library.

I drove by all the gas stations near the freeway and past the small tourist park we have. The library is right next to the park so I parked and went inside. I returned my old books and went to look for new ones. When I found one I sat down and began to read.

The area was quiet and there's usually not many people around. I started to hear laughter from across the room but I didn't think much of it. I put my headphones in to drowned out the sound. I was reading and was so lost in the story line till a hand covered the page I was on. I was startled by the gesture and closed the book harsh on to the mysterious hand.

"I'm so sorry!" I said and removed my headphones. I looked up to see the owner of the hand and saw the mayor's son. "Oh it's just you." I put my elbow over the top of the book so his hand couldn't move. "What do you want?" he looked unhappy that he was trapped under my elbow.

"Mind if I get my hand back?" he asked and I sat expressionless. "I'm going to take that as a no." I nodded and he sighed. "I haven't seen you here before." I noticed how he looked for the first time. His short black hair looks amazing with his ocean blue eyes. He wears clothes that look way expensive and styles his hair to the right. He really did look like a rich boy with his perfect build and perfectly proportioned body and his perfect look.

"I'm usually working but I got fired. What are you doing here? You don't live on this side of town."

"I don't, but I come here each Saturday to study for the next test I have. It doesn't have many people and it's a better library than the ones in town." I removed my elbow  and he removed his hand from the book.

"Okay, but why are you here? You can be anywhere else in this room." I said and he smirked.

"I wanted to mess with you. Seeing each other the next day is destiny!" He smiled but I was unamused.

"Or a stupid coincidences." I said and put my bag on my shoulder as I made my way out.

"Hold on! Do I at least get a proper introduction?" He asked and I turned my head to look at him.

"If for some reason we see each other again, which I doubt will..."

...

...

...

"Hey, are you okay?" I heard a voice say. I shake my head as I realized what just happened.

"Sorry. Um," I take a deep breath and started right where I left off. "If for some reason we see each other again I will give you a 'proper introduction' but I doubt that will ever happen." I left quickly and didn't look back at him. I didn't even check to see if I could get a small job at the library. I got in my car and drove back to my house.

I had blanked out again. I have no idea how long I was like that but the way he looked at me it must have been for an abnormal time. It's been a while since I had blacked out like that. I thought I was finally getting better and that I could move on from that incident. I'm still trapped by my own mind. I opened the door to my apartment and looked up more jobs. I called several job cites but most of them had already filled out their staff.  But I kept trying.

"Hi, I'm Layla Blacker. I was wondering if the job on your website was still available. It's is! Great! I would like to apply. Great I'll come on over for the application!" I said and hung up the phone. I'm finally getting somewhere! Last time I looked for five weeks. It must be my lucky break!

I made my way to the small book store, where I'll hopefully have my new job, and grabbed an application. It was five minutes from my house and it would be perfect for now. When I made my way back home I didn't hesitate to fill out the application. Hopefully I'll be able to get the job here.

After I had cleaned up all the papers that covered my kitchen counter I made my way to the bathroom to take a shower. I gathered up everything I need and placed it on the  bathroom counter. I pulled my hair out of the braid I had it in from the night before. I let my red curl fall on my shoulders and I looked into the mirror. My freckles went well with my green eyes and the little nose I have. I look like I could be in the Harry Potter books. I stared directly into the mirror and I could only think of the blackout I had at the library.

"What is going on inside your head Layla?" I asked myself. I don't know the answer to that question and it's kind of nerve racking. It's my own mind! I should know the answer! But it's all blank. I got in the shower and when I had finished I got ready for bed.
