A Fight From Death

The Fire Mask

As the sky was complete black, the four knights and sensei were walking their way to the one and only Fire Temple. The thing was that no one has been in it ever since the failed wedding, so from what the knights think it will look the same as usual. The only thing that was different was that no one rules over until Kai steps up to the plate. 

The path the knights were walking on directed them straight to the temple and it was a lot quieter than usual. They went through towns to only hear cries of men, women, and children from the disease. Kai went over to the people of Ignacia time after time giving people the slightest bit of hope of defeating the disease. 

The knights and sensei made it to the front gates of the temple and everything was empty. Completely empty. Kai opened the gates entering the courtyard bringing back so many memories; mostly of him bringing Nya home from her quiet place in the woods. 

"I missed seeing this place" Cole said out of no where. 

Jay shook his head in disagreement, "This place gave me nightmares" The knight in blue stated. They then opened the front doors to the temple to see the same big room with red walls and golden designs with picture frames on them. Kai walked up to one of the picture frame that was him, his sister, mom, and dad a couple years ago. 

Kai felt a hand on his shoulder, "We can't dwell on the past my friend. You need to move forward to what the future has installed" Zane told his protective friend. 

Kai nodded and walked over to Wu who still had the map, "So do you know where the mask is Sensei?" The red knight asked. 

Sensei looked at the map and then back at Kai, "It sounds like it would be on the lowest floor of the temple" He said. 

Kai looked at Wu confused, "But the bottom floor is a cave full of lava" The master of fire explained. 

"Well then lets go downstairs" Wu exclaimed as he took the lead down the nearby staircase. 

Everyone followed behind him, but Kai was questioning Wu about how he knew so much about the Fire Temple. "How do you know all the passages around here Wu? Only the royal family of Ignacia would be able to figure it out" Kai stated trying to figure Sensei's game. 

Wu chuckled as he stroked his long white beard, "Lets just say I was a good friend with your parents." 

The stairway suddenly became a lot hotter than it was originally  bringing some of the ninja sweating in their clothing. Once the stairs came to an end the ground was slightly mushy like lava had just cooled down on the ground. Up ahead was a small volcano with an object on it. Kai walked up to it while the others wait by the entrance; the Master of Fire got a closer look at the object to see a mask shaped as a lion that red wood and golden designs carved into the exteriors. 

The red knight looked back at his team then back at the mask as he picked up the wooden lion head. Different from the others experience, lava started to splatter out from the small cracks in the dark cave. What Kai didn't realize was that a big, red, dragon burst out of the wall in front of Kai. The red knight took a couple steps back in shock and didn't do anything to defend himself, but stare at the beast. 

"Kai get out of the way!" Jay yelled trying to run to his brother in law, but Wu held him staff in front of him and the others for protection. What the knights didn't know was that Lloyd and Nya were right behind them and without thinking, Nya jumped over the scared knights and ran right in front of her brother with an arrow locked and loaded. The dragon burst out fire from it's mouth directly at the siblings, but Nya shielded them with the remaining water still in the room. 

Once the dragon was out of breath, the gray knight pushed her brother to the other knights and used the tip of her arrow to cut the shin on her hand. The dragon sniffed and looked even madder than it was earlier and started to charge at the raven head. She ran from it and yelled, "RUN!" 

The knights hesitated, but didn't have time to complaint as Wu pushed all of them up the stairs. Nya ran over to a wall and stood there as she waited for the dragon. The dragon ran straight at her and when it almost hit her, she dodged it and the beast broke open the wall to revel the outside world. The female knight whistled for River and she came running to her as she exited the cave with the dragon following not far behind. 

Nya jumped on top of River and started heading to the very front of the temple which wasn't that far. The dragon was falling behind as River picked up the pace as both the mare and master of water could see the others just exiting the front gates. River ran over to the men and stopped as the dragon stopped following them and Nya got down to hug Jay. 

"What were you thinking?!?" Jay shouted worried and angry at the same time as he continue to hug her. 

"I saved your butts that's what I did" Nya responded as she pulled out of the hug to check on her brother. 

Kai was still in shock, but with a couple snaps in her fingers he broke out of his trance, "How are you? When did you? I'm confused?" He asked as confused as ever.

Both Nya and Lloyd walked up to Sensei with the same question, "Did you find all the mask?" Both of them asked. 

Wu nodded bringing a sigh of relief to the knights, "How about you?" Wu asked them back. 

"We got them. A little trouble here and there, but we managed" Lloyd told his uncle. 

Jay, still lost with words took a hold of Nya's hand and brought her over to a nearby tree away from the others. "So what happened out there?" Jay asked quietly. 

"Nothing much, just encounter some dragons and stuff" Nya said. 

The knight in blue looked into his wife's eyes and knew she was lying to him, "That's not all is it" Jay said. 

Nya sighed, "Lloyd knows" She responded. 

Jay widened his eyes and put his hands on Nya's arm as he bent down to her level, "What do you mean he knows? How does he know?" Jay asked franticly. 

"When I went to get my mask from the middle of the ocean, I changed not thinking about the visible black veins covering my body and he saw them before I jumped in" She told him. 

"He won't tell anyone will he?" The blue knight questioned. 

"He said he won't tell as long as I tell him my progress with the disease" Nya explained to her husband.

 "And what is your progress?" He asked. 

Nya sighed again as she wrapped her arms around the master of lightning neck, "The voices" She answered. 

Jay sighed in disappointment and wrapped his arms around Nya's waist and held her close to him. "Jay I need you to promise me something" Nya whispered in his ear. 

"And what is that Nya?" He asked. 

Nya looked up at Jay's face to meet his eyes with hers, "If I turn and we haven't defeated the Overlord. I want you to kill me" She said shocking Jay. 

"No, I can't do that Nya, I can't. You're all I have I can't loose you too" The knight said with tears streaming down his face. 

"I don't want to hurt anyone Jay" She tried to say, but Jay cut her off by putting his lips on hers. 

She kissed him back before pulling apart for air, "And I'll make sure that that won't happen. I will make sure of it. You will not turn we will defeat the Overlord.  I promise" Jay said. 

The two stayed in each others arms until the others started to look for them. The two or better yet three knew that this was a mission that they can't fail. If they do thousands of people will die and some will never be the same.....
