Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Break-Up

Alisha

I stare at him, as tears fill my eyes. "What? Why?" I ask, my voice breaking. Rafael looks at me, crying as well, "Apparently it's against the rules to date the detectives I work for, it could cause favoritism." Rafael says,

"So thats it?! You're just going to dump me?" I ask, crying harder now. "After everything, we've been through over the past year, after we finally slept together.," I say standing up, "Baby please don't make this harder..." he begins, "Don't, you don't get to call me that anymore. You didn't even bother to fight them for it. You just turned over." I say, hot tears streaming down my face. 

"Ali, I really am sorry," Rafael says, "Go," I whisper. "What?" he asks, "JUST GO" I yell, my voice breaking. He nods and walks out, I sit down and cry. 

A few minutes later I feel a hand on my back and look up, Sonny and Amanda were standing there. "Rafael told us," Sonny whispers. I begin sobbing again and he pulls me into a hug. 

"Where am I going to stay? I obviously can't stay with him!" I cry, "You can stay with me, okay?" Sonny whispers, I nod.

Liv walks in, "What happened?" she asks, concern filling her voice. "Rafael just broke up with her," Amanda says, walking out of the room. Liv sighs, "Alisha, I'm so sorry...are you able to deal with it later? We have another case..." she says. I wipe my face, "Yes I can, I'm fine. I'll be fine," I whisper.

Liv nods and we all walk back out to the main room, "Gary Munson, has been accused of sexually assaulting multiple women at Rikers," "Rikers? That's going to be hard to prove.." Mike says, "Yeah well, we're going too, I have to go speak with Barba about it, Amanda, join me?" Liv says. Amanda nods, "Ali, Sonny, go speak with Charisse, she is the first one to come forward," "Yes ma'am," I say.

Sonny and I head out and to his car, getting in and heading to the address Liv gave us. "I really am sorry about Barba," Sonny says. "Can we not talk about it right now? I just want to focus on this case," I say looking at him,  he nods.

We get to Charisse's house and knock on her door, "Who is it?" she calls, "SVU" I say, she opens the door. "I don't want to talk to anyone right now," she says.

"Well, Charisse, you accused someone of rape, you need to talk to us," Sonny says. After a few back and forth she talks with us a little bit. She tells us what happened and explains everything.

We head back to the precinct and when we arrive Rafael is back. I avoid eye contact with him and sit down at my desk, Sonny gave him a dirty look. 

A couple of hours later, Liv told us to head home. I sigh and stand up, "Want me to go with you to Rafael's house?" Sonny asks, "No, I'll just meet you at yours," I say. He nods and I leave, walking to the elevator and heading down.

I get in a taxi and head to Rafi's house, not fully prepared to face him. I get there and unlock the door, he's sitting on the couch reading something.  

"Ali..." Rafael says, "I don't want to talk. I'm just getting my stuff," I whisper. "You're leaving?" Rafael asks, "We broke up. There is no point in me staying here," I say. Walking to the bedroom, I grab my suitcase out of the closet and begin packing some clothes.

"I might come back but for now I'm staying with someone else," I tell him. "Ali, I am sorry," "Save it, Rafael, you dumped me, after everything, all because someone said its not proper for us to date," I somewhat snap, he looks down.

"I love you" he whispers, "I'm sure you do, but you're not in love with me," I say, he looks at me. "I love you too Rafael," I whisper. Grabbing my bag, I walk by him, "Take care of yourself, okay?" I say, he nods and I leave his apartment. Getting in a cab and heading over to Sonny's house.

Was it a mistake going to Sonnys? Probably. But he's the one who I can confide in. He's the safest place right now.
