The Big Bad Wolf and The Sly Little Fox

chapter 7- Natural predators

<Winston POV>

"Who's your friend?"

I turned my attention away from Bell, who was throwing a fit of some kind. Greg stood beside Danny with a smile on his face, Greg was the head of the pack warriors. He was in charge of training and the war effort, he was also bit rough around the edges with dirty blonde hair and tan skin marked by scars. Greg pointed at Bell, "who's this?" He asked. All attention was on Bell now, who had frozen his tail tucked between his legs he was panting hard as he stood as far away from us as he could.

"Bell," I said, Greg nodded a few of his trainees stalking forward and surrounding Bell, that's when he flipped. Bell growled and snapped at the wolves while tugging hard on his leash. A wolf behind him sniffed his leg, the one he had been holding up, Bell spun so fast he knocked his own legs out from under himself and with a painful yelp he landed hard on his painful leg. Before I could run to him he was back on his feet, Bell shot forward between my legs and curled up into a shivering ball.

I leaned down and picked him up, tucking him to my chest. "Sorry," I apologized to Greg for Bell's show. Greg shook his head, "no, I'm sorry I should have kept the boys away, I'm sure I scared the shit outta him, he's probably been dodging wolves all his life, this is wolf country it'd only makes sense that would scare him." I bit my lip, why didn't I think of that.

"Besides looks like he's painful in that back leg, an animal in pain is an animal scared, you should get doc to check that out." One of the wolves said, her voice came out in a whiny scratchy sound, I nodded. I assured Greg and the she-wolf that I'd take Bell to the doc immediately before leaving I gave everyone a goodbye and went on my way. Bell was still tucked safely in my arms, hearing him yelp was like a knife in my heart. I'd only had Bell for less then a week and I already felt such a bond towards the little fox.

Super duper short sorry about that but I think I made a nice ending, anyway I'm going to try and update on Wednesdays. As all ways you can asked questions or leave comments about any ol' thing.

I start school in a few days (ugh) anyway I'll update on Wednesdays but I don't know what time, I'll shoot for 4pm but who knows, stay tuned I guess.
