<Winston P.O.V.>

Unlocking my door I set Bell down and unclipped his leash making a mental note to but a new one. I had been using an old one I dug out of my closet from a corgi I had several years ago, the collar barely fit and the leash was tearing. Bell ran off towards the living room his fluffy tail waved in the air, I smiled and turned to put the old leash on the coat rack. As I hung up the lead I heard Bell let out a panicked shriek, I spun on my heels and darted to the living room where I last saw Bell trot off too.

He lay on the floor, on his back, his muzzle was open and he let out heart wrenching cries. Above Bell was a black wolf, one of his paws held Bell to the ground, the wolf's claws digging into Bell's soft chest dragging pained whimpers out of the little fox. My heart stopped when the wolf opened its mouth, his teeth flashed as he went for Bell's jugular.

"Stop!" I screamed running forward I slammed my shoulder into the wolf, with a grunt the beast fell backwards and I grabbed Bell, holding him to my chest I turned my gaze on the growling wolf.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Dad!" I yelled at him. The wolf grew impossibly big it's legs grew long and it's snout pulled in on itself. After a tense minute the wolf was gone and my father stood in its place. He looked the same as when I saw him last week with graying hair and hard brown eyes. I glared him down Bell shook in my arms he let out little whimpers his paws clenching and unclenching

My dad reached forward, ripping Bell out of my hands. "Do you know what this is!" He roared, Bell was crying out his tail was tucked tightly between his legs. "Its just a fox dad! Let him go!" I demanded taking a step forward to reclaim Bell.

"This species! in our town! you're kidding? It's not a fox, Winston, it's a shape shifter!" My dad yelled. "Dad, you're crazy he's just a lost pet, don't you think if he was a shifter he would've changed by now, besides, fox shifters are wiped out."

Dad lessened his grip a thoughtful look on his face. As soon as his finger loosened Bell ripped free and landed on the floor with a hard thump. My heart stopped and I dropped on the ground to reach for him, but before I knew it Bell was on his feet, he shot me a terrified glance and was gone up the staircase.

Great, now I have to completely restart on gaining his trust. "Walter! Winston, you better sit down and leave each other alone!" My mother commanded, walking into the room. I gave my mom a bright smile and a hug what can I say, i'm a mama's boy. Wanda doesn't mess around, she pushed us each into a chair and disappeared returning a moment later with snacks which she put on the coffee table.

"Now," she clapped her hands "talk"my father sighed, "I'm sorry I'm on edge. The patrol I sent out returned today with bad news." I nodded "the search patrol?" I asked. My father nodded "yes, they found a den" he said rubbing his forehead. "What kind of den?"

"The fox kind"

Dun dun dun. Sorry I'm late I had a dentist appointment and I needed to finish this chapter. Also I think I fainted in the hall yesterday at school I don't know what happened but I just kinda fell on my ass.
