jughead's was having a bad day. His classes were dragging and his professor cancelled and his subsitute was awful. He moped through the day and when classes finally let up he was quick to leave. He'd made it onto campus when someone bumped into him. "I'm so sorry" a familiar voice said. "Betty? Hi sorry are you okay?" He asked helping her pick up the books she dropped. "Hi Jug and yeah sorry I'm so clumsy" she smiled, and his heart melted a little bit. "Where are you going?" He asked. "I have class now, are you going home?" She asked. "Yeah, I've finished for the day" he said. "Oh..." She said, like she was disappointed? Jughead told himself he was just imagining it. "Oh! Are you doing anything tonight?" She asked. "Veronica is dragging me to a live music Night at a bar down the street do you and Archie want to come?" She asked with big hopeful eyes. "Well Archie's band is playing so I'm already going but you can come with me... we can all go... together" he said with a smile. "Great! I'll text you when I finish class!" She smiled and skipped off to class, leaving jughead watching her retreating form with a grin.Later that evening he was seated next to Betty in a booth, Veronica on the opposite side who was gushing over Archie. "I'm so excited for this! He's been telling me all week!" Veronica said. "He's pretty good" jug offered. Betty and him made conversation and they once again were laughing and Joking. Halfway through the evening Betty's phone went off and she excused herself outside to take it. When she came back she smiled at him but it didn't quite reach her eyes. She was quiet for the rest of Archie's performance, her hands in tight fists.
"How did you find that?" Archie beamed when he came back to the table. "That was amazing!" Veronica squealed. "It was great dude" Jug said. "You were really good Archie, excuse me I need to go home" she said, rather rushed and left the bar. Veronica watched her in concern. "What was that?" She asked. "I have no idea" Jug said, also concerned he'd only ever seen Betty happy. "I need to go after her.. she might... you don't know her like I do and she..." Veronica stressed and with a hug to Archie she followed after Betty.
"B?" Veronica called when she walked into their apartment. She heard crying coming from Betty's room and walked in. "Oh B what's wrong?" She said as she wrapped her friend up in her arms. "My mother called" was all Betty said and that was enough for Veronica; Betty and her mom didn't have a good relationship. "I'm sorry Betty. Can I do anything?" Veronica asked when Betty pulled back to wipe her tears. "I'll be okay. I'm just going to have a bath and get an early night" Betty said. "Go back to the bar V. I know you want to spend some time with Archie" Betty smiled. "Am I That obvious?" Veronica giggled. "If it means anything.. I think Archie likes you too" Betty said. Veronica eventually went back to the bar with a promise for Betty to call if she needed anything and Betty ran herself a bath. After a while she got out and into her pyjamas. Just as she was about to turn on Netflix, there was a knock on the door. She opened it to reveal jughead. "Hi" she smiled. "Hey... I just wanted to check on you.. you know.. are you okay?" He stuttered nervously which made Betty smile. "Yeah sorry about that, talking to my mom does that to me" she sighed, stepping aside to let him in. "I'm sorry Betty. But don't worry I have enough family dramas to last a lifetime" he said as they sat on the couch. "My dads an alcoholic and my mom took my sister and left when I was younger, they live in Toledo and I still talk to my sister but not my mom" Jug said. "Oh jug I'm so sorry" Betty said and squeezed his hand. "It's okay" he smiled. "well it's lucky we found each other to share dysfunctional family stories with juggie" she smiled. "Juggie?" He smirked. "I like it, want to watch Netflix?" She grinned, moving slightly closer to him. "You got it betts" he said and she burst out laughing.
