Chapter 23: Bells and running away.
"J-Jack? Are you..." I said. Is he proposing? What do I do?! Do I say yes for the benefit of Snowflake, or do I say no because I need more time to ease myself around him?
"Jack, I don't know how to reply to what i think you're about to say..." I repeated.
He positioned his knees and kept held of my hand, "What?" He asked as he looks up at my face and then looks down to his untied shoe.
"I'm just tying my shoelaces," He said "And I kinda need your body support right now so help me keep balance, Kay?"
"A-Are you freakin' serious! I thought you were--"
"--Proposing?" He said, finishing my sentence as he also finishes tying up his laces.
I cross my arms in disappointment; letting go of his hand.
"Why the sudden frown on your face honey?" He asked standing up, with his face up closer to mine than ever before.
"Jeez, I'll promise you the best marriage proposal ever, just when I finish planning it. I promise." He said reassuringly.
"Erm... Okie," I said hiding my smile. Okay, now I think I need to go..."
"WAIT," he said, grabbing my arm. "Can I--"
I stared at him curiously. What did he want this time? "Do you want me to kiss... You..?" I asked.
"Yeah but--" before he could say another word, I grabbed him by his hood, moved my face closer to his and closed my eyes.
When I kissed him, his lips were like soft champaign bubbles, he gave me this soft feeling as if I was drawn to him and I was to never let go of this dream-like moment. His hands moved around my waist securing my position. I imagined him to be colder than I expected; to be cold and lifeless. But this Jack that I know, is much more better than the old ice Jack. I liked it.
Momentarily, a voice interrupted us and this caused us to part. It was a soldier and he was shocked to see Jack. He pulled up the attached walky-talky from his trooper's jacket and called out, "Sector 120 of mission command, we have an intruder on headquarter grounds, I REPEAT, there is an INTRUDER of presence on ground 14!" A few guards came to secure the perimeter, and our doorway was blocked, Jack was able to escape anyway, but that meant I had to stay here leaving Jack alone.
"J-Jack! What're you gonna do?!" I said in a panic. "I want you to stay here. I'll take my leave." He said in a rush. "Wait... How can they see you?" I asked quickly.
"I would've thought you'd notice it already, but this place is full of dead souls. No one is ALIVE here." He said.
Everyone's dead?! Exactly what are they? Is that why they can see Jack?!
I looked at him with confusion. "Why do they want me here then?!" I shouted. "Look, I don't know!!! Just let go of me!" He yelled.
When I did, he shot through the air and disappeared.
"Miss Elsa, you must go and speak with General Hanz, he will explain all." Explained one of the dead soldiers. Now that he mentions it, they do look a bit off coloured; every single one of the soldiers looked very pale and their uniforms were tattered and used up.
They lead me through corridor after corridor. Until we arrived at a destroyed door that had decayed for many years. "Come in." Hanz said.
As soon as I entered, I was determined to ask every question to why I was here. That was of course, until I saw Hanz' real form. Hanz wasn't human. He was black all over and had a mask over his mouth as if to be sick. He looked evil. His blackness reminded me of an evil man who I cannot vividly remember but for sure I knew of. The name echoed in my mind, 'Pitch.'
"So, I'm guessing you've met my father... Pitch. He's told me an awful lot about you. I hear you've been creating chaos for him up there in the guardian realm, however that has concerned me very much. I do not like disturbance upon my father. KAPISCHE?" Yelled Hanz.
"Pitch... Is YOUR father?!" I shockingly said.
"Well of course, that explains my constant lying, my evil features and my devilishly handsome looks. Sadly, he ain't my real dad, he merely took me in his arms after we had died together in that car crash. Along with my petty little brother, Jack..." He said grimly.
"Jack...! Is your brother?!" I said, establishing the obvious.
"However, Jack became the goody two shoes and disobeyed father. So when we all died, he went down his pathway whilst me and my father stayed doing our bad ways. Any more questions princess?" He asked sarcastically.
"You asshole! I knew I couldn't trust you! From the very beginning!" I said yelling.
He gave me an evil grin.
Then I realised, "...You... Where's Snowflake?!" I screamed. In the thought of her being all alone boiled my veins, I need to know where she is or else I'll have nothing to live for. The thought off her being alone among these evil men scares me.
"Looking for this little one?" He said pointing in the corner to Snowflake, who had tape wrapped around her mouth as muffled noises of her screaming tried to escape from the sticky plastic. My veins became hot of anger, I did not like what I saw and I was not having any of it.
"LET HER GO NOW!" I yelled at Hanz.
In the moment of atrocity, Jack barges through the door and froze two guards onto their feet, knocked another four out and violently approached Hanz as he grabbed him by the collar and stared him down with hatred.
"Well hello brother, how nice to see you after all this time. Father's very worried about you you know..." Hanz giggled sarcastically.
"Shut up you little shrimp. I demand my daughter back. NOW"
"Pitch isn't going to approve of this you know."
"I DONT CARE. He can think whatever he wants, he's not a father to me... ELSA," Jack turned to me, "Quickly, go grab Snow and get outta here. I'll deal with this bastard.."
I didn't notice the gun secretly pointed at me behind the desk of where Hanz was holding it... So I was shot before I could get closer to Snow.
She was crying for the last few moments of my life. It killed me twice.
