Jhonny was twelve.
At this age, believing in monsters was a thing of the past. No one believed in them anymore, right? That would be stupid! And child-like. And Jhonny didn't want to be a child anymore, he wanted to be cool like the rest of his friends.
But it's sort of hard to do that when you're wetting the bed from your fear of monsters, huh? It's hard to hide at sleepovers, isn't?
Recently, Jhonny had to go to a sleepover, or else he would've been seen as a "loser."
Why don't we see what happened to Jhonny at this sleepover?
I was so afraid to spend the night at Jake's. What if I wet my sleeping bag? What was I suppose to say?
Walking into the house, I talked with Jake and wished him a happy birthday. He thanked me for coming and told me where to put my stuff.
I spent the rest of the day spending time with my friends and having a great time! It went great. But after dinner and cake, we had to go to bed. And as I lay in my sleeping bag, I was holding back tears. I remembered to go to the bathroom before I got into my bag, but I was so scared that I had done it again.
Quietly, I gathered up my things and snuck out of the room. I called my mom and had her pick me up. I left the house quietly and never looked back.
The next day at school, Jake asked me why I left, and I lied and said I was allergic to his cat. He accepted it.
Now we look at Jhonny today. He's happy and hopeful, not a care in the world. But once nightfalls, everything will change.
As the sunsets, Jhonny ceases his playing with his friends and goes home for dinner. Chicken and broccoli is what's on the menu. Jhonny chooses to go to bed without dinner, despite his parents disapproval.
As he lays in bed, the time ticks by. Soon, everyone else in the house is sleeping soundly, except Jhonny. He sits awake, staring at the ceiling, waiting fro the darkness of sleep to overtake him.
But it never does.
Instead, he stays awake. It's quiet for a long time, until suddenly he hears a noise from under his bed. Fear courses through his veins. What was that? He thinks.
There is silence for a bit, and Jhonny is able to snuggle back into his blankets and embrace the feeling of sleep.
There it is again. What is that sound? Couldn't be anyone in the house, no, everyone is sleep. No, Jhonny is certain the sound is coming from under his bed.
Witha burst of adrenaline, Jhonny makes a dire mistake. He's going to look under the bed. Peeking over the edge of the bed, he prepares for what he's about to see. And...
Nothing. He see nothing. Absolutely nothing is there. Jhonny is safe. Breathing a sigh of relief, he sits back up on his bed, only to see the thing that was under the bed.
It's like a small dog, but with very little hair; the only hair being on it's back, and being very sparse. It had beading white eyes and insect like legs. It had a human like face, but not one that Jhonny had ever seen before.
It was sitting at the end of the bed, staring at him. Tears welled in Jhonny's eyes. He was petrified. As he bagan to cry, another creature climbed up the end of the bed. How had he not seen it when he looked under the bed?
The one that was sitting at the end began scuttling closer to Jhonny until it was an inch from his face, blowing rancid air into his face. Jhonny couldn't breathe.
"What do you want?" He whispered.
In a screeching, insect-like voice, it replied, "You."
