We stand there waiting when someone opens the door.

Chapter 5
Jace's POV

I was sat at the table with Izzy, Alec, Max, Maryse and Robert when there was a knock on the door. My head snapped up towards the door, watching Robert go to open it. I was still tired from my night shift at the gym, it was hard trying to juggle working late hours and school but I managed. Luckily most of my time doing my probation was whilst school was over but we go back next month and I still have three months left. As I just started to take a sip of my coffee my eyes fell upon orange. No it can't be. Her orange her is the exact same colour as... Omg it's Clary. I was in utter disbelief and as I saw her walk in I spat out my coffee, "Jace! That is disgusting! Clean yourself up." Maryse moaned at me.

"Sorry Maryse it went down the wrong hole." I blew out a fake cough, causing Clary to suppress a laugh, and wiped my face with my napkin. I just watched as Clary shook Robert and Maryse's hands and started talking. "So young lady what is your name?" Maryse spoke to her calmly and inviting, "My name's Clary." She beamed back at them.

Clary's POV

I watched as Jace spat out his coffee, I so wanted to burst out laughing but I suppressed it trying to make a good first impression. I shook Robert's and then Maryse's hand as she spoke, "So young lady what's your name?" She spoke calmly and inviting. "My name's Clary." I beamed at them. "So sorry where are my manners, come, sit, eat!" Robert uttered and motioned us to the table. "Three of my favourite things to do." I muttered under my breath. Luckily only Jace heard it and he laughed quietly to himself. "This is Isabelle, Alec, Max and Jace." Maryse pointed to each of her children as she spoke their names. "Call me Izzy." She beamed smiling brightly.

My eyes stayed on Izzy. She looked just like the photos of Maryse that mom had shown when she was younger. Her inky black hair fell down her back going further than where the table met her chest, her eyes were not like Addy's or her brothers. Instead there were a chocolate brown which blended well with her fair but slightly tanned skin. Her completion was flawless, the only thing visible was a slight scar on her bottom lip which was covered in dark rep lipstick. Her eyelids were cased in a collection of nudes, blacks and greys causing her eyes to pop. She had on-from what I could see as her legs were hidden under the table-a red lacy crop top.

My eyes then moved to look at Alec. He had the same inky black hair but it wasn't too long for a boy. It sat upon his head in a mass of long and short spikes. His eyes were the only bright thing about him, they were the same blue that Addy, Robert and Max had. His skin was as clear as Izzy's but was more lighter. He had a slight noticeable slit in his right eyebrow. He also sat taller than Isabelle but all you could see was his jumper. His black jumper reminded me of one of Simon's, it had many holes that were stretched and ripped making it look older. I then turned my gaze to Max who sat at one of the heads of the table.

As he was younger he was very small compared to the other Lightwood children. He had dark brown hair that was resting on his forehead, his eyes were the same electric blue and they were hidden behind a pair of glasses. He wore a comic book related t-shirt, that made me think of Simon again, along with a grey hoodie. I then focused on Maryse. She looked completely different to the old photos of her in high school. Instead of her small red dresses and 'over 8 inches' heels she wore a knee length navy blue pencil dress with short sleeves, which was paired with some small simple black heels. Her hair was the same inky black as Alec's and Izzy's, but it was pinned up into a neat and tidy bun. Her eyes were the same chocolate brown as her daughters.

Her makeup was minimal it consisted of mascara and and a small bit of eyeliner, just enough to make her eyes look sharper. Her skin was clear but she had a similar scar to Izzy on her bottom lip. Robert stood just beside Addy. He wore a simple black suit and smart shoes. His hair was receding but appeared to be dark brown and slightly grey. His eyes the same blue as most of his children, his skin looked clear but had aged in certain spots and his jaw was covered in light stubble. My eyes then gazed over to Jace, out of everyone he was 'underdressed'. He had a simple white t-shirt on that hung tightly around his muscles, his golden halo of hair sat messily on top of his head like he had just woke up. His golden orbs called eyes still sat in dark circles, obviously from a lack of sleep. He was the one who stood out like a sore thumb compared to everyone else in this family. His bright golden hair could be pointed out from a mile away in a sea of the dark haired Lightwoods.

We walked to our seats at the table, me being across from Jace, Addy to my right Maryse at the head of the table, Robert next to Addy and Izzy and Alec being across from them. "So Adelaide, how old are you my dear?" Maryse asked Adds kindly, showing sincerity in her voice. "Nineteen. I'll be 20 in November." She smiled and took a deep breath, to anyone else that would have been unnoticeable but as her sister I saw it as a sign of her anxiety. I grabbed her hand and gave it a slight squeeze, telling her I'm here. "And Clary how old are you?" Robert looked towards me speaking and grabbing my attention, "I just turned sixteen on Saturday." I spoke becoming apart of the conversation. "Anyway Maryse, I hardly recognised you from my moms photos. You look a lot different from when you was in high school." I added trying to lighten the mood and create conversation.

She looks down at the table where her hands are rested, taking a deep breath before speaking, "It was a phase I sort of went through." She explained whilst going towards the kitchen. "Yeah I guessed as much. When I walked in and saw Izzy I thought it was you. You two look a lot alike." I complimented her and saw her return to the table with fruit in hand and a smile on her face. "Yes well Isabelle is not the only daughter who looks like her mother. You Clary look like Jocelyn's double, apart from the fact that her hair is a darker orange." I hated being compared to my mom. We weren't very close to be honest so it always put me in a bit of a mood when people thought we looked like twins or sisters. I put on a fake smile and thanked her.

We spoke about our child hoods and Addy had arranged to meet up with Robert once or twice a week, so they could bond. We was in the middle of eating breakfast when Maryse spoke up, "Was you hungry Clary you've eaten every bit of the fruit salad in under a minute." She chuckles whilst everyone joins in. "Yeah I have a big appetite." I smile picking up my fork and twiddling it in my hands. Addy laughs, "A big appetite. You mean humongous." I glare but laugh with her. "Clary once at three burgers within twenty minutes of each other. She usually has four meals a day sometimes even more." I playfully smack Addy's arm whilst giggling with her, "You make me sound greedy." We continue laughing and everyone else finished eating.

We stood up and walked towards the door with everyone following to say their goodbyes. "Well it was lovey to meet you Addy, and you too Clary. We have to do this again." Maryse chimed as Robert reached to open the door. "Of course we will." Addy spoke up, getting less anxious than this morning. We walked out of the door and stood just in front of it. As Addy was about to speak my phone started ringing, "Sorry it's probably my mom." I yanked my phone out of my pocket and saw my moms caller ID pop up. Rolling my eyes I answered it and walked a little further away,  "Hello? Yeah. Nah we're leaving now. Probably about ten minutes."

Addy's POV

Clary walked a little further away to talk to mom. As she answered it I looked towards Robert and Maryse. "Hopefully we see you very soon, and bring your sister, she's nice." Maryse elaborated. I was about to speak when I heard Clary arguing, "No. 'Cause that's not up to me. Oh shut up I'm going out anyway. Uhh yes I am. What you really think I'd stay at home with you? Oh whatever!" She pulled her phone away from her ear and shoved it back into her pocket. She walks back over to us apologising, "Sorry about that it was my mom asking when we'd be home." We said our goodbyes and started to walk towards the car. "Come on let's go! I gotta meet Simon." Clare moaned at me kicking me lightly in the back. I laughed at her with a fake look of hurt on my face, "How dare you kick your sister!" I beamed in a sarcastic voice. "I know I'm horrible!" She giggled before opening her door and jumping in. I looked up before I got in to see everyone still standing there. They waved at me as I waved back, getting in the car and putting the keys in the ignition. Clary's hand flew to the stereo and blasted out my Fleetwood mac cd. I pulled out of the drive way with Clary waving manically at my new family.

Sorry, this one was a bit longer than the others I just needed to get a lot of stuffs in the next chapter is my favourite so far. I forgot to put in my other chapters that I own nothing. All the characters belong the wonderful Cassandra Clare.
