Chapter 4
Clary's POV
9 am

My dreams were interrupted by muffled shouts coming from the living room. I pushed my duvet off my body and jogged to the top of my stairs. I sat there silently so no one could here me. I heard Addy shouting at my mom, "You lied to me!"

Addy's POV

"You lied to me!" I shout at my mom, "You lied to me for seven years, and you still continued to keep things from me for twelve years. How can I ever trust you again!" She stands still just staring at me, a look of hurt grazes over her face. "I know what I did, but we all make mistakes. I never..." I cut her off, "Oh bullshit. I'm nineteen years old, I've known for twelve years that Valentine wasn't my real dad and you still lied to me. Every time I asked. Mistakes have nothing to do with this!" I've had enough. "I was seven! Seven years old."

Flashback

I was woken up by shouts and cries coming from the other room. I looked around to make sure Clary and Jon were still sleeping. I jumped down from my bed and sat by the door. I was listening to the shouts until mommy says something that hurt me, "Addy is not your child Val. I'm so sorry." I sit still trying to listen to the rest of the argument but I'm stopped by the tears falling down my face. I grab my knees and pull them to my chest. I rest my chin on the top of my knees, crying. He's not my daddy. Who is?

Flashback over

We stood there for a few moments processing what I had just said. Then she speaks, "I've told you so many times that I am sorry I can't change what I did what else can I do." She whispers softly whilst stepping closer to me. I step back from the hurt of being lied to. "Tell me who my dad is." She stops moving towards me and stands in shock. Her mouth opens and closes as she's trying to find the right words to say. "I-i can't." My eyes fill with tears but I push them back. Have no weaknesses and no one can hurt you. The words travel through my head until the tears disappear.

She still stands there looking for words. "Well, are you gonna tell me. 'Cause I need to know. I need to know what the other part of me is like. Is he an arsehole is he kind, is he smart, creative, do I look like him fo I have his laugh his smile, I need to know these things mom. Does he know I exist?" She keeps her mouth closed and states at the floor, we stand there waiting, for what seemed like hours. Then she opens her mouth, "No. He doesn't know you exist." She stops again. As I'm about to shout at her for not saying anything she beats me to it, "Here," She turns around and grabs a piece of paper and starts writing, "this is his name and number," She stops again as she walks over to me, "be careful." That's all she says before leaving the room to go up the stairs.

Clary's POV

After mom walks past me on the stairs I take that as an indication to go down. I walk downstairs and see Adds sitting by the island in the kitchen staring down at a small piece of paper. "Adds? What's that?" I asked quietly. She looked in my direction a little startled and then a look of confusion washes over her face. "Erm, it's erm my dad. Well his name and number." She answered quickly. I walked over to her and put my arm around her letting her head rest on my shoulder.

We stayed like that for a few moments before I spoke up, "Message him." She looked at me, worry and confusion clouding her vision. "What?" Her voice broke a little at the fact that I would suggest such a thing. I chuckle lightly to myself, "Message him or call him. Tell him who you are. He might want to meet you." I assured her. She turned her gaze to the piece of paper, focusing on it like it was her life force. She pulled her phone out typing the number in quickly. As her finger rested above the call button she stopped. Her breathing became ragged and I knew what was happening. She was about to have an anxiety attack.

She had one of these about once or twice a week. Some of them were big but mostly they were small ones. I grabbed her face pulling her to look at me, "Adelaide look at me. You'll be fine just think of it like you're calling me. Imagine that's my number, but just say who you are first." I let out a small chuckle and let go of her face. Her focus was all on her phone, she breathed in before hitting the call button. It rang about three times before I heard a faint hello. "Hello. Is this Robert Lightwood?"
                                      ...
Clary's POV

I sat on the sofa waiting for adds to finish talking to her dad staring at the sun rising over the new York skyline it was so beautiful in the morning the purples and oranges and pinks that filled the air made it look like a explosion of colors and patterns in the sky, I wish I had my eagle out so I could paint it. I was knocked out of my thoughts by Addy speaking  "He wants us to come over for breakfast. Today. He said he'd message me his address." As soon as she said that her phone buzzed with a message, I giggle excitedly, "Okay I'm gonna go get dressed." I run to Addy giving her a big squeeze before running up the stairs into the bathroom having a quick five minute shower leaving my hair in a bun and putting a shower cap on it as I washed it yesterday. After my shower I let my hair out of its bun do my makeup and pick out my outfit, which consisted of my black ripped jeans, my black velvet long sleeved crop top, my denim jacket and my black DM's.

I pulled my phone off charge and jogged down the stairs, "Come on then let's go eat!" I beamed happily and grabbed Addy's arm pulling her out of the door. We walked out of our apartment building to the garage and jumping in Addy's small black Mini Cooper. We walk out of the car staring at the massive house in front of us, "It's like a bloody mansion!" I say a bit of jealousy lacing my tone. To be fair I have a reason to be jealous I mean I live in a small six bedroom apartment with crack addicts living next door to us. Addy just laughs. She takes in a deep breath, I grab her hand as we star walking up the driveway towards the front door. I knock on the door three times. We stand there waiting when someone opens the door.

I know I'm horrible I ended with a cliff hanger. At least Addy knows who her real dad is. She can finally be at ease.
