It was a different time and place, far from this current dimension. Machines were alive before a time where humans even had constructed engines, and they lived lives much like those of humans as well. Living machines thrived and suffered like humans did, living beings with troubles and joys all their own. One major suffering factor was that of war, the odd urge for beings to fight each other for small things like land or country names. War started and clouded the world in a fog only seen by the mind's eye.
Few beings dared to dream about helping the entire world as a whole. Among the few, two friends who were brilliant minded and thriving in a life of university life. A red Mustang of a 1998 model parked himself in front of a small laptop screen, his best friend by his side scribbling onto a paper sized for the yellow Corvette Z06. Roommates and best friends, what more could you want in any life?
"Jerry, dude, seriously," the Corvette spoke finally.
"What is it Vick? What's on your mind this time?" the Mustang idly said while looking at the small screen in front of his grille.
"With all this war and fighting, like, what if we actually did what those crazy movies have done?" Vick asked. Jerry paused, glancing over to his friend as if the vehicle was drugged up on jet fuel.
"They're just movies, man! You can't actually do any of that shit!" Vick groaned and raised up on his suspension, standing up to his friend with a face to match his noises.
"No really, think about it! We're metal and oil and other bits, but there's so many forms of us out there. So, what if, there were like, robotic forms of us to send to war instead of, well, us?" Jerry froze, lightly nodding his front and turning to look his pal in the eyes.
"And who said Corvettes were stupid? No really man, that's not half bad idea." Vick smiled proudly at the approval of his friend, soon erased once his Mustang friend caught a breath.
"But... how would that even be possible? We aren't some underground industry with chemicals and computers to pull that stuff off." Vick looked to the floor, thinking hard for a few seconds.
"We don't have to." Now it was Jerry's turn to stop and think.
"Jerry listen, if we get the idea airtight, right? And maybe do some digging to see if either it's possible to like, combine vehicle traits and stuff or just make controllable versions of, well, us. Then... then maybe we can find someone else who can actually do it!" Vick explained, smile reforming across his front. Jerry stood there, giving a nod and smiled.
"Vick, you're an amazingly minded car, but also my best friend for a reason." The two bumped a front tire like old friends do, sharing a smile and a light chuckle.
Both spoke as one mind, "Let's get started."
"For the greater good?" Jerry asked.
"Damn right!" Vick answered.
